Can you leave bales of hay wrapped on the field of grass?
Like, leave them to turn to silage and then move them and feretilize the grass the next month?

It's best to wrap the bales so they can start turning into silage. Then you want to move them out of the way so you can use a grass roller on the field to increase the fertilisation state by one level

Never used a grass roller myself. Always get 90%+ yield. Wrap the grass, pick up or leave the wrapped bales. Spread fertilizer and done. The bales, so long as wrapped, will turn into silage wether you leave them on the field or not.
The roller is fertilizer. You don't need to use a spreader or expensive solid fertilizer at all if you roll grass after mowing.

That's not possible with base game. You using a mod?
It would be better if you can store the bales off to the side of the field so you can work on it without tripping over them.

If you have the Autoload Mod installed and have a flat trailer that can hall bails that is all you should need if you are worried about spending money.

It is very possible with base game. Fertilize field, sow grass, lime, fertilize. That is for initial start. After every harvest you then just need to fertilize once. For some reason the field always retains 1 lvl of fertilizer and the lime.. This is for grass only though.
