invest in silage bunker or no?
I use a lot of grass and try to sell it for silage but I cant afford the balers, wrappers, transporters etc so i have to lease them everytime.

But i do have a forage wagon and a scoop. Might be a good idea to save it in a bunker and scoop it out to sell?

Im also planning on getting cows when I can, so I need some silage for cows too right?

Whats best? Bale and store em in bale storage? or bunker?

lots of people reporting issues with silage bunker. scares me off a bit @ moment.
personally i go with wrapper as a temporary measure. took a loan - very soon it was paying out. best regards

It really comes down to personal preference. Bales can be super easy if you have a baler that also has a wrapper built into it. The bunker isn't bad but I found it got really tedious compacting it after awhile. Also the cover on the bunker can bug out if you don't open it right. The first bunker I did in 25 failed because I used a forage wagon to pick up the silage it made but I couldn't remove the rest of the cover, even using the bucket wouldn't remove it after I had picked up the visible silage. You need to first open the bit of cover you can with R, then use the bucket to pull back the rest of the cover before you use anything else on it.

I'll never use a silage bunker again, they feel like a job. Simple rule of thumb if it makes a lot of money it's also probably soul draining.

Another question: if I store my wrapped grass bales in the bale storage building, do they still become silage in there?

Yes wrapped grass bales do turn to silage in a bale storage building.

I'm wondering how people are doing corn chaff if they're not using a bunker?
Griffin Dec 28, 2024 @ 3:15am
If you realy want to avoid bunkers you could use the semi stationary Göweil Wrapper. Cut the chaff and tip it into the Wrapper kombi. It can bale chaff, gras, hay, eaven suggar beet cuts.
Its a big expensive machine and lots of work for my taste but hey its an option.

Easyest will be modded silage silos (the grain silo looking ones) turning Gras into Silage without the need to compact or tarp anything.

I´ll stay away from Bunkers till they fix those problems, it ruined my LS 22 Start and i dont want to repeat that in 25 ^^

fix what problems? the fact that you have to compact them isn't a bug at all lol
Griffin Dec 28, 2024 @ 4:03am
Fix what Problems? I never said compacting is a bug. ^^
Ok im happy you are not having any problems with Silage bunkers but this doesn´t mean there are no problems with them.
Existing Problems as i know: Chaff/Gras/Silage getting stuck in Silage walls, loosing some of ur chaff becouse of this (smal amounts but still a bug) Silage being stuck in Silo, Silage tarp bugging out so u can´t open the silo all the way.

Im not trying to bash Giants for some, mostly minor, bugs but it would be nice to fix them. For now we find ways to work arround them and im having fun playing the game ^^

I think corn chaff can be made into silage bales with the Gowiel stationary baler.
