which farming sim game has the best story mode/campaign?
I recently got into 'simulator' games by playing hardspace shipbreaker which I got a lot of enjoyment out of. I've been playing 'life sim' games since harvest moon 64, and i thought i would check out the farming simulator franchise as I've got a trip coming up where i won't have internet access for a few weeks

the problem is that I get bored/aimless in games that are too sandbox focused, so I was wondering which game in this franchise has the best story/campaign mode? if all of them are lame, is there another simulator/dynasty game that you think would be a better fit?

thanks for the input

If you want to leave a "story" rpg style use this instead:
Ranch Simulator: Build, Hunt, Farm.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1119730/Ranch_Simulator_Build_Hunt_Farm/
Little (NOT) overpriced: 24,99€ and actually in sold to 6.99€

I found out hard way about the over heating. Had some one little before you posted here tell me about the high end cards over heating on that game. So figured i would mention it to save OP time or anyone else who tries it and has same issue. Have not tried fix myself yet.. I came back to FS25 lol

I have an old card: GTX 950.. I don’t even know if this will running the game. XD
Time to Christmas update:winter2019happyyul:
Released 2015... No I dont think it will at all. MAYBE on lowest settings and editing xml to lower it even more. Which to be honest would look ugly and likely run badly. If your GPU that old I expect your CPU and PSU both to be way under specs.

So in your specific case I suggest do NOT buy game. You would have a horrible experience for sure. I suggest..:
I9 13900KS or the 14900KS if have extra money.
Z790 mother board series. One of the higher gaming ones be best.
4080, 4060 not worth it too many issues i hear about. And 4090.. well if have money to throw around get the 4090.
DR5 or DDR6 no less then DDR5. And 64G be good. Agin more if want but at 64G you have more then majority of games will ever use.

Also I highly suggest getting water/fluid coolers for CPU and GPU. So can run them OC or higher settings with out heating up. I try keep mine under 76C on GPU. So while i can max out settings past ultra.. I dont to keep heat down. As have not installed a cooler for GPU only CPU so far.

Edit- not trying to imply your dumb or anything to that extent at all.. BUT one mistake MANY make is get high end hardware but then get too small a PSU to run them. Think buying a Porsche then putting a 4 cylinder engine in it lol

Farmeres Life https://store.steampowered.com/app/1137750/Farmers_Life/ got story. (and kind of survival), And much more "hardcore" farming than FS. (hardcore as in nothing is automated, no big machines, all handwork, though you can eventually use tractor and a small hravester)
I7 9700K released 2018 so not too bad. But yes its on its way out sadly. What mother board do you have? And what size PSU? MB will dictate what you can upgrade to if anything. If need replace MB... might as well just get new pc :-)
The best game that heavily features agricultural simulation, life/community simulation, and story progression is probably Rimworld.

And The Big Brzezinski scores 3 points, a magnificent shot.

Lol not sure Rimworld would count but it might. On that thought can try also.. There is another game similar. Its a sci fi styled game. But for life of me cant find it in my game list... Ill try find then link it.

EDIT - went through my list and cant find the game. But its similar to rim world but to me a lot better. But cant remember name and going through my list didnt trigger memory sadly.

Z390-A PRO and i cannot see the spec size PSU, it's under a box that need to be removed. Not today, my back hurt XD.

No need go through all that. Looking at motherboard... You would need replace it. i9-9900KS one of the "best" cpu's i found for it. and well.. Wouldnt be worth it honestly.

So in end need to get whole new PC. As that mother board will not upgrade to current enough hardware. While for some games it will be fine. For many high end games and new ones coming out. Its passed its prime :-( Also my personnal suggestion when upgrading. Figure out what power you will need for system.. and go up by 25% at least. So if need 400 watts.. get a 500 watt PSU for example of easy numbers. Basicially buy stronger PSU then yo need for surges from hardware draws.

Quite a bit depends on how RL like you want your sims to be.

It sounds like a game such as Dinkum (which is quite fun btw) might meet your needs as it has both directed gameplay -such as daily objectives, an overarching end goal, etc.- as well as sandbox play.

On the more RL type sim you might look at Medieval Dynasty or Sengoku Dynasty (different developers, same publisher thus the Dynasty tag).

FS25 for all its shortcomings (real or perceived) still does pure farming best. And it is complimented by some great mods, BUT it is self directed play.
