How to feed sheeps?

Hello, i want to feed sheeps but i don't want to mow grass for them. Can i somehow buy the hay? Because i know i can buy bales and mix them, but i want to get direct hay. Is it possible? Thanks

yup is possible. you can buy hay and other stuff @ dealer / warehouse. "mixing" food = tmr, this is for cows, personally i often also do "hay only" for them. best regards

Sheep can be fed directly from hay bales. Just stack them on the trigger, and they'll refill the barn automatically.

Can it be on sheep pasture too? Because when i tried it long time ago (on patch 1.2) and put the bales in, it didn't take them

Can i feed sheeps with hay bale in sheep pasture? Because it doesn't have bale trigger and last time i tried it (patch 1.2) it didn't work

No. It's just an normal sheep pasture. The first one in sheep category in animals tab in construction mode.

just tested it, with ALL 4 of them. the OPEN PASTURE top left worked fine.
only exception: top right one (beige) took nothing, i even tried to drag bales around the trigger.

If bale stacking doesn't work, and you want an alternative to using a mixer, you'll have to grow the hay yourself. It's really easy, though. Grass is super simple. You mow the grass with a mower, dry it into hay with a tedder, windrower to rake it into rows, a run a forage wagon down the rows to scoop it up, and a grass roller on the cut field to fertilize it for next time. Stuff the hay into a hay loft until you need it. Then you wait four months and do it all over again. I recommend you do hay in April, July, and October. You can get a lot more hay than you'd think out of a small dedicated hay field, and raise a huge number of sheep off it.

I remember only the bigger one take bales, the others only loose hay, and i never understand why.

I think in one game (22 I think?) I was actually baling hay, hauling it to a loft, and feeding the bales in with a mixing wagon. I didn't have a forage wagon at the time, but I did have baling equipment. Anything that didn't fit got left as bales and eventually sold off.
