Empty 'savegameBackup' folder

I was going to play but i've noticed that my save was gone. I've tried recovering it by going to the savegameBackup folder but, in the savegame folder i was using, it was empty. Is there a way to get my save back?

Same thing happened to me when I tried booting up my game just now. Lost hours of gameplay and it is very frustrating.

i had to go back to an earlier save (the only one that it's folder wasn't empty) and lost 6 hours of playtime. What a waste of my time

is this files in onedrive on windows then i would recomend to take them out from there or even better unstall onedrive

Exact same thing happening on my system whether by autosave or manual save the game creates empty savegame backups with correct time date but puts no content into the folder.
There may be only one out of a series of folders that got something in it but that one folder is way back in time with plenty of correctly dated empty folders since. Reinstalls of game have not changed this behavior. I uninstalled onedrive along time back its not in startup at all. One last thing my log file is clean with no errors. Steam does save to its cloud only the very latest. This missing content in savegame backups is mentioned in the official giants forum one person posted.

If the post was created today, it was me. I still can't believe this ♥♥♥♥ happened. I've made so much progress yesterday, all for nothing... Now everytime I close the game I copy the content from the save game folder and paste it on new folder I've created just for this

It´s either a onedrive issue, or the game lacking rights to write into the backup folder. So it´s less the game and more your windows.

Yes I agree that as a possibility. I have done checks made sure of quite a few things last 24 hours , I've a repair of Steam Library's, checked the windows Library folders are normal default locations, I've run ckkdsk fix mode.
If the game does write to the folder only occasionally with contents why not all the other autosaves and manual saves, so as I understand it does have write permissions even to just create the savegamebackup folder with correct date time of manual save, but still inputs nothing inside the folder. I also have FS22 installed though its brought directly from Giants store so I will do an experiment to see that version writes the savegamebackup in its respective directory right next to FS25 in the default install path. I also own FS22 Steam version but not installed so i could do a temp experiment to see if FS22 Steam version is currently suffering from the same behavior. sorry about longer post, but thankyou for your input

I uninstalled OneDrive a very long time ago and have the same issue. The game obviously has permission to write if it is creating backups occasionally. It seems like the creators are just trying to pass the blame around sadly.

Good to see I am not the only one anymore. Exactly the same here. I was able to reduce the 10 days damage to 1 day by recovering files from the Onedrive waste basket.
Everyday now I get a message from Onedrive that I deleted a lot of files and asks me to check if that is okay. Which it is not because I did not delete these files. My assumption: FS25 did.
I fail to see how Onedrive could cause this issue, it doesn't delete files by itself.
Also important: the CareerSavegame file was corrupted.
Is there a place/method to manage FS25 backups?

For what its worth I did some more testing Except using FS22 Giants Shop version (Not Steam Version) That I had installed all using default settings which sits directly next to FS25 in My documents Games. I played on a new game default Elmcreek map and throughout the roughly 1 hour of play with autosave on 15 minutes time interval, I also made manual saves. The results which I wrote down the aprox time of each save whether autosave or manual show content in all the savegame backups directories not a single empty folder. So I take from that The previous version has no problems with write permissions to the directory structure. The only difference in this test is that I used FS22 Giants Shop version which does not use a cloud saving system like Steam , and I do not use Onedrive to back up those folders.
I wish I could figure this FS25 empty savegameBackups problem. I hope the next patch fixes it . I'm open to anybody else's trouble shooting tips. I'll keep an eye on this discussion.
