Steam key when digital purchase?
https://www.farming-simulator.com/buy-now.php?platform=pcdigital

If I bought a PC Digital copy directly from FS.com -- do I get a key that I can then put into steam and then run the game as I do all my other games in steam, e.g. updates via steam, mods via steam etc.

No. On the site it dosent list steam, just windows pc. Also seems to be Giant's own store front, so they probably have their own launcher.

Also they dont use steam for the mods, they have their own repository

OK thanks for that. That's what I thought. Wasn't sure about mods, I tend to use nexus anyway, but some games use steam workshop. Never bought FS through their website so wasn't sure.

If it helps both the Steam version and the website version of their games both connect to the same mod hub on their servers so steam players and non-steam players can use the same mods and such and play together in multiplayer long as each player playing together has the same mods active.

Both versions also support mods that can be manually downloaded and installed as well from various sites, but be careful on those sites as mod theft is a thing and there may be viruses on 3rd party sites so make sure you scan anything you download outside the official modhub.
