Seems a few others had the same trouble but I found out the reason why. You can't lease the trailer as I did, it doesn't work, at least for me.
I went to buy it and it worked no problem, hopefully this is fixed as I'd rather lease it for now until I get more money.
You can make it wider, longer, higher or only some of the trailer.
It is part of the autoload I believe. So far hasnt hurt anything :-)
Since the game itself is still in the beta phase (for me) and we are the beta testers, Giants is not yet able to fix major bugs itself, preferring to add new bugs with patch 1.3, I am happy to do without scripts and helper tools.
For some it doesn't work for others (you can read about it here in the discussions), is it the system? Game settings or do mods interfere with each other?
However, I am grateful to the modders that they sit down and take the time to make the game a little easier for all of us, to beautify it, to have more fun with this game, thank you.
What Giants will do with the game remains to be seen, but it will probably take longer for everything to work properly.
