Pretty sure you can't make silage out of straw

No. You can't. Only grass and chaff.

you can use the straw that shoots out from the wheat get into bales and wrap yes?
Trien Nov 25, 2024 @ 12:21pm
Grass can also be turned over and dry into straw so it can be baled. Just trying to determine value of straw vs grass for sillage value
Llogeyr Nov 25, 2024 @ 12:25pm
Can't get silage from straw as it can't be wrapped or anything like that. Straw is just straw. Use it to make TMR or give direct to cows.

So you either can get silage from wrapping grass bales or chaff from corn. You can also take and empty grass into a bunker and ferment it that way as well. Just need to collect it using a forage wagon.

You can only create silage from Fresh products, like grass, corn etc. Straws are dry.
The silo bunker is great when you want to create a lot of silage or cant really store any bales.

Grass turned over is NOT Straw, its Hay.

The balers do have an option to chose between netting or foil as wrap. I have not tried yet, but if you have a baler with foil wrapping, can you not wrap hay then, even if hay does not ferment?

no, the foil in the balers does only wrap a part of the bale to get it tight (picture upper left part far away).

What bothers me more is the fact that wraped gras bales do not turn into slage bales when storage them in this Mod shelter.
