Harvesters and Ai,
Ok, i need to bring this up. As sure i was complaining about the Ai bugging out and not allowing you to work the fields and what not. But this is just getting weird. as Harvesters have this really really weird ai quirk regarding headlands.

In short it instead of reaching the end of the line. Backing up and lining up with the next line to move down the square. It insist on taking a chunk out of the corner. Which mind you for a normal combine, is weird but not really something bad. But i just messed around with a Bean picker and. Boy it dose not work out well.

Worst bit is, i don't even know why this is a thing. I don't know why they programmed this. Is this a real thing in real life. Where you suppose to take a chunk out of the corners, for gods knows what reasons.

As mind you, this wouldn't be bad if you could change the headland amount. But for some reasons i need to do 5 rows of headlands with a bean picker. And at this point the ai is bugging out trying to follow a simple path.

why is this even a thing? Why dose it not just function like the Cultivator or any other tool?

The reason is because if didnt do it. When lined up to do next section it would end up running outside of the field. So by cutting the corner as it does it doesnt miss a spot and allows it to turn inside the field. Next time stop it before does corner. And try to line up your self on next part to cut. You will end up driving outside of the field.

In past games this caused them to get stuck on trees or signs or fences all the time. So new way "is way do IRL as well" helps to keep AI from getting stuck.

Dude if that is the case, Why dose that not happen with any other tool. as i used headlands with seeders, No problems, I use headlands with plows. No problems, I use headlands with cultivators, rock catchers, And every other tool, No single problem.

A harvester is the same thing as any other tool. In reality its Just a moving line. Worst bit is, Its not even the widest tool. Nor is it even the hardest one to control. As its Directly in front of the vehicle and it dose not move.

Worst bit is, it dose not even work right. Why dose a harvester with a with of what, 3.3 meters, Need 5 headlands where a combine with header of 6 needs 2.

Its a bugged script imo. Disable "headland tail protection" in the Oxbo XML. Works way better.

Thank you, Got to ask, where is that file, i have no idea where that would be located. And trying to find like a general setting thing in this mix of random letter files is impossible.

I think the length of the harvestor is likely the reason they do this. And an attempt to use the same algorithm for all harvesting. We call it an AI. but it really isnt, just clever programming. A true AI would do things differently quite often in order to avoid things like trees, just like a human would. These "AI" are just following a script. So, they are not smart, or doing things logically, it is just following a script. The devs could make different scripts for varied sizes of equpment, but getting one to work is difficult, multiples would be almost impossilbe to manage. So they made a script that basically worked on everything but the harvester because it was too long to stay in the field to avoid getting hung on trees, and then they patched the standard behavior with the little corner cut. This is exactly how just about any programmer would handle the same situation.
immersion. It clears out crop that will be in the way when turning. Not that AI destroys crops, but at least it looks more "real". AI mainly do this with root cops/veggies.
Unless i misunderstood what you mean by taking out chunks of corners

You find the line inside the Ai section of every harvester xml file, in the game folder.
