Bonus for me!

My rolling did not add a fertilizer stage. You are a liar. I just used the 40,000 cost roller.

and if you unselect everything but fertilizer then you'll see I'm not lying

They aren't lying, they're just a little confused. It's only 2.5% or so, which is a small percentage but it's quite real nonetheless. You still need the next stage to get the larger full fertilization bonus as well, though.

See my comment above to the other poster. It's not a full fertilization bonus so you should still do that as well if you want the largest possible yield. There's also weeding to do which while not an actual bonus, as such, will prevent a percentage of the final crop being lost when harvesting.

Edit: Forgot to mention it's a fairly large percentage lost due to weeds, too, along the lines of 20% or so.

Is that why I keep getting the message "needs rolling" whenever I go into my field, despite having rolled it for three hours already?

I thought maybe I was just missing a tiny spot or something.

I'm only working with grass fields, but rolling adds 50% to an already 50% fertilized field.

This is why grass is an excellent winter cover crop. You can plant in October, cut in March or April, use the grass roller, then cultivate and plant your summer cash crop in fully fertilized soil. It's far cheaper than solid or liquid fertilizer and adds a bonus grass harvest.

For grass, yes it does. For other crops, it does not.

You can gain the fertilization benefit for other crops if you use a [i[grass[/i] roller on the cut grass, then cultivate and plant something else. But you have to plan your annual schedule around doing it.

Sure but you're just using grass as a catch crop at that point. You can do that with oilseed radish, too. You don't really even need to use the roller on the grass if you're doing that. You get the same benefit to the new crop regardless.
