'Error: Not allowed to install game in' <directory path>

Reported to Giants, just wondering if anyone else gets this... Successfully downloaded and installed, plenty of disk space, verified files, tried rebooting... Tried launching the game multiple times (I get charged 1 minute of game time each try) but the game doesn't launch, I just get a window with the above message.

Edit: found a log file indicating that the updater is attempting to launch from a forbidden directory. (Well it's attempting to launch from wherever the game installed it, I didn't put it there...) Added that to the ticket.

Not yet. Giants' initial response was that I am not supposed to manually launch the auto-updater with the Steam version of the game. I replied to them that I did nothing to invoke it, I simply tried to launch the game. No further response yet.

I did add a note to the ticket indicating there were other users experiencing this.

Appreciate the update. I tried a few re-installs and changing some file paths but no luck. Also tried contacting Steam but all their support pages seemed to direct you to a refund so decided to refund the game. very disappointing.
