GPS funcationality
The GPS functionality is not the same as the mod.

What the GPS mod does:
- Locks the tractor to a line which typically lines up with the terrain angles on the map
- Shows the next over line based on the working width
- Can be snapped to the current location of the vehicle in the direction of the GPS
- Can be used outside of fields

What the courseplay mod does:
- Sets up a route within a field, including headlands
- The AI helper will follow the route
- Allows multiple helpers to be used in the same field
- Will unload combines

The FS25 base game functionality is courseplay light. It is not GPS, mainly because you have to generate the course to use the functionality. It also does not work outside of fields, which is a key, major lack of GPS functionality.

Curious how farmers do it in real like? Do they use GPS to automatically have their tractor drive back to the barn? Or down the road to their other field across town?

They use it to hold a straight line as they go up and down the field. It beeps at the end of the row so the farmer can turn the tractor around. Farmers may or may not use it to do the headlands and around the outside of the field.

GPS is not self driving in the sense of driving to and from locations outside of the field.

That's what I figured. I was just curious why being able to use the mod outside of fields was a key point.

In IRL, a field is what the farmer wants it to be when they map the boundary. If the farmer wants to combine or expand a field, they just map a different boundary.

In the game, a field is defined by the field edges. To expand the field, the player must plow a larger field. The GPS mod allows the player to create straight field edges, mow grass outside of a field, plant trees and a few other tasks that don't take place within an in game "field".

Ok gotcha.

As long as the GPS can drive parallel to the edge of the field and I can set a width to help me drive back and forth without gap, that's enough. I do all the turns, all the unloads and every other drive option. So this built in GPS looks good enough for me 👍
