Dedicated Server ? - Still need to own second copy?

do any of you know if you still need to own a second game to host your own Dedicated server? with FS25 -
I really hope not.. Still think its the WORST

Likely will have to own two copies similar the previous versions, and still be Windows only. I host my own dedicated and the FS2022 dedicated server was a janky pain to set up. Can only hope the process improves in 25.

I don't know why they just remove the game part and let the server work standalone.
It would be so easy and they could give it away for free (like all the other software developers).

But no... Giants seems to be very greedy on this topic.

I just bought a copy of the game to do exactly this because I haven't really wanted to in the past. I didn't know a second copy was needed until I started looking up the "how to". Kinda hoping friends would jump on board and I've bought a few of their past iterations of the game. Seems they are rehashing old code and just updating it along with the graphics and not building from the ground up apart from the terrain this time. I won't even consider their next game unless they drop this kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I wonder if there's a way to "crack" it like we used to do and run a separate copy independently and remove all the game aspects.

You only need a second copy if your self hosting. If your using a hosting company then you dont

Friend pays for hosting our games on a site. And I remember him listing 25 as option "Though also said he not interested in it lol". And friends on other game servers have never bought a 2nd copy of any game. Just paid for hosting. So I would think it be same for FS as well, as you mention.

Yup. I’m running 2 FS2 community servers and didnt need to buy additional copies.

Does anyone know if you can run two "servers" off of one key. So a personal key for gaming. And second key for 2 running servers to host your self? Most likely not if self hosting. I know if you use a hosting company there is no charge for the key.
