Game acting as if the menu is pulled up when it isn't

Whenever I try to play, the game is acting as if the menu is pulled up when it isn't. None is visible, and I never pressed esc. I can still interact with the game, but things like walking result in a constant "unf" sound, since W, A, S, and D can't be used on the pause menu, and pressing spacebar selects options. Really annoying, since I can't play the game whenever this happens without accidentally starting another run or something. I cant seem to close the invisible menu or open a visible one, esc does nothing except back out of options on the invis menu.

Dont know why this happens, but it always seems to happen when you need to go back and unlock the red bars on map02. Started today, so probably related to the new changes?

for me it happens every time when i play add-ons...
it didnt behave like that before so it's weird... i could use source ports but i don't want to bother so i'd rather wait for an update

and then what? i am already logged in and there is no options in bethesda tab in game

Getting the same problem, though it was the Spacebar key doing it so I rebound "Use" to a different key and that worked for like a few minutes but then it started doing it again.

I see this thread is for Doom II. Has the problem also spread to that as well? It was happening on the ultimate doom earlier today but Doom II was running fine.

This thread has a solution. Bethesda might have updated their agreement and it just didn't register so you have to go into the Bethesda.net screen and go through the Agreement process again.

seems so, havent played ultimate doom recently but it wouldnt surprise me, considering how similar the two games are

Same. It happened occasionally in the past, but now it's happening every few minutes. The Bethesda.net solution doesn't seem to work anymore either.

Starting steam in offline mode prevents the issue.
