In any case it's been 20 years since i've seen my boy Kyle back in action and can't wait.
Really happy they managed to pull the right strings at Disney and at least got the go ahead for this remaster considering how Disney changed the lore and relegated him and his exploits to "legends" material.
Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion man.
There is already an unofficial Remake underway and it looks incredible. Tell me you honestly wouldn't want to play the full version of it when it comes out, or better yet download version 1.0 now and see it for yourself.

But I'd take a Nightdive remaster too!
With the 'OpenJKDF2' source port, it is great. The use of verticality and creating the illusion of huge places is kinda amazing for the year that game came out. It's enhanced further with a wider FOV. Half-life 1 did this well too, but no where near the level of DF2.
Only thing I'd say is there are a couple "f you" map design moments and a couple puzzles can could use tweaking, but other than that it holds up next to any of the other classics. Just as long as you're using the source port.
Even the AI does interesting things, like if you're blocking blaster fire with the saber some of the AI will get scared and take off running. They can also jump up or down. It's janky but if Night Dive ever got the chance to remaster it they'd probably iron all that stuff out.
Highly, highly recommend this guide to play on modern PCs: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1778723490
It's what I used with my recent (Nov 2022) playthrough of DF2:JK. Pretty easy to set up (I also don't like messing with tons of mods), and plays great, and they did a good job with the AI upscaled textures.
With all that being said, I would absolutely buy DF2:JK if Nightdive did a remaster lol
