Do any of you guys play World Brothers?
I've been looking at 1 & 2 for a while now but can't get over how it looks visually. But if you guys tell me it is the same fantastic gameplay as the regular normal games then I may purchase them.

But I wanted to know what the Community feels about those games. Just going by trailer I think maybe this is just EDF for kids? I mean I know regular EDF isn't the hardest game but World Brothers seems like maybe they made the game easier for a younger audience? IDK

I honestly don't know. Just trying to get some feedback from EDF main players that have also played World Brothers.

Thank you

It's fun but very different game play. It doesn't just look like a lego game it feels like one too, complete with switching characters. I got all the way through it, but I haven't had much urge to go back--unlike the main EDF series. The writing is a different tone as well, eg there are a lot of moments where the characters recognize they are in a game. It has its own charm and humor. It's definitely fun to see how various EDF elements are translated, and some of the various special characters are pretty fun to mess around with. Worth it on sale, I'd say.

I recently picked up WB1 since WB2 is set to release soon. But I couldn’t get into it. The feel of the game is “off” somehow for me. I first noticed it with movement speed. But there was a lot more than just that. Overall I just can’t get into it ( at least for now ).

WB1 has some really cool gameplay imo I am waiting for 2 to go on sale tho. If you want a more arcadey version of EDF then go for it. I like the mix of skills and the fact any char / wep can be made good through leveling.

It's Hard mode def felt easier than 5 or 6s. It's Hardest and Inferno are all over the place in difficulty and I think the inconsistency makes it challenging for no reason.

The core gameplay has the right feel to it, but it's still somewhat different. The worst thing about it though it not being able to turn off the annoying voices. It keeps telling you to switch characters while reloading. So ♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying.

I personally love World Brothers. It's a much more polished and streamlined EDF experience. Not better, not worse, just a different experience. I'd say World Brothers is to EDF, what NFL Blitz is to Madden.

WB1 is fun and good to play as a more casual game.

That said, with how much they dropped the ball with EDF6 and WB2 not having huge improvements over 1. I'll be waiting until it gets into the $20-$30 range before picking it up.
I played the first one for a bit, it's... interesting. Definitely doesn't play much like your average EDF game. It's incredibly zany and often cringeworthy, but I'll give it this - it's very self-aware of this fact, and doesn't really take itself TOO seriously.

Absolutely NOT my thing. I bought the first one and refunded in about an hour. I couldn't stand the dialogue, and more importantly the classes, levels, and general feel of the game was just too simplistic and boring to me. It's very much a baby's first shooter type of game.

World Brothers 1 was pretty fun, I'll prob grab 2 another time.

The gameplay seems simplistic, but its all about finding a good team composition that works really well together. The more you find Brothers and Sisters in the field, the more they'll level up. The higher their level, the more weapon categories they gain access to. This meant I was able to do silly things like combine Maid Sisters floating jump boost with an auto-target minigun to fly gracefully through the air while blasting everything nearby. Some of the missions get brutal, but they're not near impossible (I'm looking at you Inferno Missions 107-109 Air Raider in EDF5)

I have my own little group composition I enjoyed playing with.
Tapioca Sister - Sprint ability, skill is a circle of healing items with one 30%+ skill gauge boost candy
Maid Sister - Has a nice floating jump ability, skill summons an AoE healing zone
Viking Brother - Grenade special ability, skill summons an AoE attack boost zone
GSG Brother - Fires out sword waves that launch enemies away, skill is a high DPS sword combo.

Stacking healing, damage, and a finisher can one shot some of the Kaiju enemies or at least deplete the majority of their health. I've been running with these 4 characters since I got them, originally had Ninja brother in place of GSG brother for his flying dash ability and kunai DPS skill.

Thats just an example of the sort of thing you can do, EDF World Brothers is a celebration of the EDF series as a whole, featuring many older classes from spinoff titles as well as characters from mainline EDF games and original characters exclusive to the World Brothers series. ou'll find characters from Global Defense Force, EDF Iron Rain, EDF Insect Armageddon, and so forth, with a mixture of enemies from different games too! It's the only game where you'll be fighting a Sideros (Iron Rain cannon enemies), Ravager mantises, and Darogas from the earlier EDF games at the same time.

Its very fun if you enjoy EDF, and the game is as complex as you want it to be. EDFWB:2 follows the trend of being the same game with a different plot, more content, and expanded abilities, with enemies from EDF6 making their appearance in WB2, such as the introduction of the primers, which you'll be fighting against in addition to enemies from the other mothership invaders featured in EDF.

Great game if you just want more EDF!
Cenorexia on youtube has playthroughs of WB1 and WB2 if you're interested in checking them out to see if they might be of interest to you.

The dialog in WB2 is 100x better than EDF5 or 6. I don't know how anyone stands that ♥♥♥♥.

I agree. You just shoot stuff that simply beeline to you in smallish maps. The ability to switch class at will is nice, but it also removes tactical depth. There's significant amount of extra padding with palette-swapped bros, too

To me WB1 felt like a tweaked IR without addressing its criticism so I was surprised that it had earned a sequel. I do hope Yukes has learned the lesson and made improvements for WB2.

When you get tired of EDF6, you can play World Brothers 2 instead. Alternate them.

EDF WB is awesome period.
I love World Brothers, but it's different. The premise is different and is reflected in its title.

You unlock a huge assortment of characters over the course of it, each with different abilities. Some of them are just duplicates or near duplicates of existing ability sets and equipment types, but there's a ton of them, as opposed to the handful of classes in the mainline games.

The levels are a bit more simplified (much like the visuals,) and the mechanical feel of the characters is also different. A little floatier, almost like the Lego games feel to control imo. But it's a ton of fun to run around as all these different (usually funny) characters and do their special moves and such.

Ultimately it's similar in that it's just totally off the wall, absurd, pure action with lots of loadouts and unlocks. But different in how it actually feels. It's a lot more cartoony and intentionally "zany" too. Almost like you're watching some sort of comical anime or something.

I really enjoy it though, personally.

I play world brothers. It is for all intents and purposes a casual (with some hard elements if you play the harder mode) celebration of all edf games (including spinoffs) for longtime edf fans. It's basically a love letter game and if you've played a few edf games you'll enjoy the freedom it gives for a sort of dream pairing setting. The humor is very self aware and loves to do what it does.

It starts off at a similar pace to main edf games then ramps up a little bit. You can use lots of equipment combinations to change up playstyles. I personally recommend it if you are familiar with edf games. Movement will not be the same but that depends on the character really. Some characters control completely different than others.
