I am now 65 missions in, and they just keep finding more and more ways to make things more amazing. The balance in this game is the best I've seen in an EDF for difficulty as well, at least on this far into Hard mode so far. Here's to hoping it carries all the way through!

EDf 5 have the best balance for difficulty. And everyone knows that, It's far too easy to be overlooked.
But it is still the best EDF.

Well, there were a few missions in 5 where the difficulty spiked up intensely compared to nearby missions, such as the first drone mission where you face against wave after wave of drones, until the anti-air comes in and cleans up. There was also the mission where you get absolutely swarmed with everything until the black fencers join in and save you, and the one mission towards the end of the game with a million flying tadpoles that is easily the hardest level in the base game.

Still feeling hype going into Mission 80, this is absolutely the best EDF has ever been, but I will concede that one needs to know EDF 5 intimately to really appreciate the progression.

Honestly finally getting an answer to an unasked question from EDF 5 of "Why is it every thing we try, the Aliens already have an answer for?" has been surprisingly satisfying. Jokes about EDF 7,8 and 9 being packed in aside.

It's definitely the most, "What ridiculous thing that makes me say. 'Really?' out loud is gonna happen next?" an installment has been for me since 2017/3. Which has always been at least half of why I love EDF, so that's a huge factor in this installment's favor with me lol. It really embraces the absurdity on a narrative level this time around, and the way absolutely absurd enemy types get introduced and then elaborated upon as a result of that is genuinely hilarious at times. While also making for really satisfying trial and error figuring out how best to tackle them.

On mission 100. I am very happy with the sheer variety of enemies and how fast they introduce new enemies. That was always one of my gripes with the older EDF titles. In EDF 4/5 there is a very long length of time before new enemies are introduced.

Hell, you even fight an Ant Queen SUPER early, instead of in EDF4 and 5 where it was like... what, mission 40 or something?

I have completed the campaign finally, and I can say it was a wild ride all the way through. I will definitely come back and 100% this, but I will absolutely wait for a stability solution first.
