On mission 90 (hard). This is the worst EDF campaign so far
Not only does it repeat missions from EDF 5, it repeats the same missions *multiple* times. Playing through the same missions over and over is not fun or good game design. The variety is very poor, with most of the focus being on a small handful of new enemies that aren't very well-designed or fun to fight, yet they are put in missions over and over. Meanwhile, a great many enemies from the past games that could have added some much-needed variety are largely ignored. E.g. there has been only one mission with retarii so far, one with shield bearers, etc.

The large mission count is pretty misleading because many missions have been chopped up and are very short, small waves, etc. The large, epic battles are few and far between. Running around a city killing a handful of Krull that are spaced far away from each other is frankly...tedious.

Then lastly, the Air Raider (my main class) has been nerfed to oblivion and is completely terrible now. Many missions cut out half his arsenal and all vehicles except the depth crawler. Yes, cave missions were restricted before, but now he is restricted in the overworld and there are far more missions that do this. Then even in the unrestricted missions, many of them are over before he can even summon a vehicle. His turrets were taken away and given to the ranger. The new drone airstrikes are absolutely terrible because it's impossible to aim the distance with any kind of accuracy.

Honestly, I'm already tired of this campaign and haven't even cleared it once yet. I'd rather play EDF5, which was better paced and had more variety and more good missions, but unfortunately EDF 6 will probably kill the player count into oblivion.

I found EDF5 more boring and more annoying with the bullet sponge bowser ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing that kept appearing without being able to kill it. The underground repeats get a little annoying, but the big missions are great. Some really good stuff above 100. Way more enemy variety in this than 5 had too.

I'll give you the AR though. It should unlock all the air support ♥♥♥♥ after you clear Inferno at least. They couldn't even give the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ an ATV or something since Ranger ended up with all the bikes? I mean come the ♥♥♥♥ on.

I mean you are not wrong. I played EDF6 back in 2022, and after a week it became very evident to me that the vast majority of the game was basically nothing but re-used assets from EDF5.

On one hand, the repeats get annoying. (especially the ring map. Third time I just charged right in without killing anything)

On the other hand, its not much different from actual grinding.

And on the third hand, derailing the EDF 5 plot by shooting down saucers early is fun. Even if you only actually do it once.

i dont think your utilising them new drones nowhere near enough, little ♥♥♥♥♥ make the air raider mean at close quarters.

Ps the air raider was absolutely the strongest and most brain dead class off the bunch in EDF5 the only difference is now you actually have kit that allows you to fight under ground and other classes have been brought up a bit to deal with air raiders shenanigans.

Air raider got a major buff, and the rest of the class'es got some tweaks to keep up with air raiders BS like blood storms having a 0.2 second lock on time.

Thats legit just the dragon levels in this game, how many times does he appear yet we cant kill him until the level he has to die, every edf game has that cheesy invincible kaiju
What annoys me in this game is like OP said, im getting tired of the same levels, same dialogue, over and over.

When you don't realize that using gun drones at close proximity to the enemy makes you do insane damage.

Air raider is a lot more viable now than he ever was before, as he is no longer vulnerable/useless in a lot of situations. It's cool dropping a bunch of bomber phobos, spritefalls, cannons/miniguns/vulcans, bulge lasers, etc, but when you realize that most players that play/"MAIN" air raider get their face pushed in the moment anything gets close... it really starts to hit home just how useful the drones are in this game.

Not only are drones spammable in mid to close range, they shred everything in their effective range. Things like spritefall, bombers, and even gunners can and will miss their target if you fail to lead the placement properly, whereas drones, all you need to do is point down or just a bit ahead of you to eviscerate any nearby threats. The idea is not to use drones for long range combat, but for mid to short range.

EDF5 was good, but I feel like a lot of the game is just rehashing the same missions as well. You can only do so much in a horde shooter, after all. I'd say the game's balance is a lot better than 5's overall, as 5 has far more "wall" missions than 6 does. You also have more options to deal with enemies simply because of the addition of the backpack slot.

Was the flying frogs in EDF 5? I only played EDF 3. The flying frogs are fun and the frogs in general.

Tadpoles do exist in EDF5, yes.

I love the later EDF 5 missions in the 100+ range where you do things you couldn't in EDF 5 and the soldiers are all amazed at what you are doing!

Yeah, but these are less annoying, like I said. Some of them the dragon leaves right away, and some he's more of a distraction like when they're dropping anchors while you fight him. Overall, less annoying than spiky ♥♥♥♥ face.

The repeat levels are SOP for EDF games. Anyone who played 3/2017 knows the first 40ish missions of 4.1 is literally an abbreviated 2017 run. I think a couple missions after that are even remakes of old ones, like Waterside Bugs. Only thing I can't stand is the story ♥♥♥♥ that makes you wait for dialog/NPCs.

The missions repeat for story reasons. Its very integral to the entire plot. The game is about going through time and then bringing back what you learned to the past.

I like the story. It's way more engaging than EDF5 for me. I like the idea of going back in time to relive the same events with more knowledge.

It reminds me of Edge of Tomorrow (aka Live.Die.Repeat) with Tom Cruise but in low budget, absurd B-movie vibe this time.

The only worst is 1, which not even speedhack can make captain talk faster, as much as I love the story I don't want to hear that 12 times...

Some missions skip that ♥♥♥♥ when you pause and restart.
