EDF 5 vs 6
EDF 6 has been out for quite sometime in JP. Has anyone played the game and could compare it to EDF 5?:EDF5Soldier:

I'm also curious about this as well
Example, EDF 5 was a Remake of EDF 4.1
So is EDF 6 a remake of EDF 5? Or a Sequel to EDF 5?

From what I heard 6 have enerything that 5 have,monsters/weapons and then new stuff on top like more weapon slots/monsters/weapons.
So basically a good sequel.

What about map sizes and the maps?

I've seen videos of the first 10 or so missions and the person is playing as a ranger. From what I can tell, for ranger grenades are now a separate weapon slot and includes things like actual grenades but also land mines and such.

What I'm really interested to see is air raider however. I heard someone claim that depending on the mission you won't have access to certain stuff, but they didn't specify whether that was because of underground missions where that was always the case, or if it's because you don't have access to gunships or satellites in the ~3 years since EDF 5 which would pretty much gimp the Air Raider. I'd also be curious to see if they made calling in mortars/howitzers any faster because that was the main reason I neglected those call-ins, in addition to them being a really awkward grenade to aim and throw.

EDIT: It is pretty absurd that I can't even find videos on youtube that highlights the gameplay changes between EDF 5 and EDF 6, you'd think that would be a really popular video...

There are some repeats since it recycles some missions. There are many new maps.

Draw distance is ♥♥♥♥. Pull out to drop air strikes...can't see the enemies. Back away from stationary enemies (anchors/ships) and zoom in, can't see them. It's ridiculous. It's something that the PS5 version should be able to handle much better, but it's exactly the same as the PS4 version. My biggest complaint about the game aside from holding back DLC.

They also tried to ♥♥♥♥ over those who kite enemies on the red line with the map boundaries hitting water etc in places. Not to mention excessive debris on some maps.

Not quite.
5 wasn't a remake of 4.1. 4.1 was a sequel to 4 (which was a console exclusive), and 5 is a different continuity to 4 (for example, 5 has frog and grey aliens instead of Hector robots), and 6 is a direct sequel to 5, like 4.1 was to 4.

4.1 wasn't a sequel to 4. It was just an enhanced version for newer hardware. If you actually played 4, you'd know that. We could really use a 6.1 since they built 6 for PS4.

2017 and 2025 were the previous games and 2025 was EDF4.

I only read some

1) many classes now get separate different slot for different gear.
Example Ranger grenade no longer use the weapon slot

2) Air Raider has drone mechanic and work very well underground too.

The air raider got their drone certification and can now command drone swarms .

That's great and all, but can I still ask God to smite Earth's enemies with his giant shotgun from the sky?

I know, IGN. But it's a good overview imo.

Thanks. I hadn't considered looking at an IGN video but it basically covered what I was most curious about without being 30 minutes long.
