How likely people will cheat on PC?
Hi,

I was a huge fan of the EDF5 but even on ps4 some (not many but still) people were modifying their save files to get 1mln HP and maxed out weapons.

How big of a problem it will be on PC do you think? Was it bad in EDF5?

Make your own room and play with who you want. People need to quit crying about cheaters in PvE games. The weapon upgrade system is garbage. I always get my PS4 save modded for All Max Weapons. My armor is legit. 100K on my Fencer right now. 3 million spiders died for it. Lots of people appreciate my help with the nasty stuff on inferno. I farmed near 800K on my fencer in 4.1.

Hell, it's fun sometimes watching people with a million armor fail horribly cause they have no idea what they're doing. I've played every EDF. I don't enjoy the RNG weapon grind or lower difficulties anymore. I still remember this one guy on the Japanese version of EDF 5 running with over 300K armor on his fencer thinking he was hot ♥♥♥♥. I had like 140K on mine and he set the mission to DLC 2-12. We proceeded to knock down all the hives all at once. He died like 10 times while I carried him and the 2 other lower HP people to clear it and kept picking everyone up. He closed the room in shame after and I laughed my ass off.

This will be problem, when not "honest" players will be more of them, than "good" players. Because, even if you create your own room, there is no one to play with, because there a too many cheaters. But just in theory. In practice, thanks, there are not so many of them.

Played a lot of EDF, so there are not so many of them had seen. And most of times, no one likes them, so they are just kicked (if they joined to normal players room).

People who cheat don't want to play EDF. They just want to play "Look how great I am" and other narcissistic games. Its about high numbers, rather than the experience from challenge. It's about making life easy, etc.

And the thing is, it does psychologically reward, because in a way they still experience the game's flow, even if it costs them no effort. Its like cheating in PvP. Despite having a clear advantage, they will feel great, rewarded, because it makes them feel "powerful", right-

but that is not Earth Defense Force, its just a power game. EDF is just used as one of the tools to achieve this.

---

EDF rewards players who play with friends. You get 4x as much drops (if done right) when you're with a full party. Thanks to that some people have 10K+ armor obtained legitly.

When you're playing alone, like me, then playing for a long time just gives a few 1000.
If you want a lot of armor / weapons, try to get friends to play along with you.

Though for me its partly about the challenge with these games, so -- having too overpowered weapons or too high armor can ruin the experience a bit. As such I am not that worried. It does stand out on screenshots though, huge armor numbers I mean.

I don't look at games that way. I race to 100% with low armor when I get the game, but I have no desire to keep playing that way. I completed the challenge. I had like 11K on my Fencer when I hit 100% on the Asian English release. Then I grind armor until I can carry all 3 people on inferno, playing the way I want, and pretty much never fail instead of having to play careful and deal with randoms that have ♥♥♥♥ armor, gimped weapons, etc.

This is why I play EDF. No armor cap. I keep gaining while I help people and the more armor you have, the easier it is. It really pisses me off the devs stopped unlocking Genocide Guns for clearing Inferno once the games went online. Hell, I'd settle for infinite wing cores and 4x air raider creds.

I'll never understand the people who want to play games on the highest difficulty over and over when they're not unlocking anything that makes it easier or more fun. It sucks most games don't let you get OP anymore or unlock cheats like the old days, etc.

100% bad players will spend $60 on this game and then cheat to reduce the amount of time they play it. Just look at the very first response in this topic.

I've got over 4000 hours on 4.1 (PS4), genius. I'm not grinding weapons anymore. It's that simple. Multi-layer RNG is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Bad enough it took me an extra 100 hours to get Thunder Orb on 2017 Vita for the 100% weapons trophy. ♥♥♥♥ RNG.

Personally I am the opposite. I don't get what makes power, destruction, griefing, etc. fun.
I mean I tried, but-- making a problem go away the easiest method or through overleveling / overpowering is just--- boring.
I guess the problem is that the outcome is predictable and... well, knowing I'd win makes me not even want to press a button basically.

I absolutely hate it when people ' carry ' me as well. When I die and they recover me till the mission is clear, or when they just clear the mission for me (and I don't die at all), having to watch others clear the mission, etc.

Its about overcoming a challenge essentially, and --- I don't like not seeing a challenge. Its not even about the huge difference if there is one. When I see the other has no challenge at all and isn't letting me try or learn to overcome it, or participate in clearing it, then that's just double. It feels insulting honestly.

I'll try to explain that last comment:
It is insulting to me, because someone like that, someone who carries, takes away the game for me. They're not playing along with me. In fact, this is what I see happening:
I am " filler content " in their game. I am there, just to provide the other with reasons to feel powerful, to feel " helpful ". I have been reduced to a mere object, an NPC in someone else's game, where they are the hero. It is like involuntarily watching a stream of someone being ' great ', except that now I am just staring at a death screen and wanted to play a game with them instead of watching them play the game, and reduced to mostly commenting on how great the other is, or whatever. (that last bit is what I am supposed to do, and I am supposed to thank them for reviving me... because that is really the goal, receiving thanks.)
This is what makes it dehumanizing.

On an equal playing field, both me and the other are overpowered... then you get the boring part. You see a bunch of explosions and buildings blow up, so what?

The way I hope to see a game, is at least with some trouble in it, so-- yeah I rather do have the level and armor limitations.

Edit: Just saying, people have their own playstyle. I just wanted to let you know how I see these things basically. The way you find fun in the game is diffidently different, and its fine. However, due to the way I see things I don't try to carry people. lol

You stay offline or keep your room private if you're going to be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ baby. It doesn't matter how anyone gets their weapons. I was clearing 107 for people on inferno in EDF 5 with like 4K armor. I can't stand playing with gimped weapons. It took me 2 months running EDF6 (Asian English) 24/7 just to get my 100K on my Fencer because they held back the built in DLC which would be much faster for farming.

"I was clearing a difficulty for people trying to beat it without the weapons acquired from the level they needed to do to get the weapons." Makes sense, yeah. That's kind of how cheaters work.

Cheaters don't have the skill do do what I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do. Stop acting like grinding multi-layer RNG ♥♥♥♥ weapons means anything.

Well relying on the RNG to get something REQUIRES BEATING THE LEVEL WITHOUT THE SOMETHING. It's amazing how that little tid bit is normally forgotten. You can cheat all you like, but the moment you bring it into someone's game, is just wrong. The fact you don't understand that, is just mind boggling to me.

No, it doesn't. Everyone grinds a handful of easier missions on inferno for the weapons. None of them are locked to specific ones, genius. The amount of people constantly running that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ball mission on EDF5 online for weapons was so annoying. EDF6 has a gold ant one that everyone farms on inferno, as well as a cave one that some people use. Both on DLC 2. Just like everyone used Golden Darkness on 4.1. I take people on that outdoor silver spider one on 4.1 (DLC1-14?) and reflect them all while circling them. Faster and more fun than Golden Darkness, but most people can't pull it off the way I do as fast as I do.

That just goes to tell me you don't know how the progression of this works.

You can grind mission "X" to do mission "X" but the weapon level lockout prevents you from using weapon "X" These are what are known as hell levels, because they have a threshold before allowing you to use weapon "X" one particular mission in EDF 5 was the 2nd emergence of the bugs in france. You simply did not have the weaponry to do deal with everything in a fast enough time frame.

Enter the DLC which gave weapons designed to help with these specific levels and onwards. Before that level you had nothing to get to help, the DLC however was designed to help. So it's an equipment lockout per threshold. So, as I said, cheat if you want to, but you should have enough respect for the other players, not to bring said cheats online.

First, I don't play limits on anymore than necessary to turn them OFF. 6 has shared progress, so that's not even an issue online since I 100% offline first. I've got nearly 10K hours in all these games total. Don't tell me I don't know how ♥♥♥♥ works. We unlock the missions, we find one to farm, and get some decent weapons. Only a handful of weapons are really worth a ♥♥♥♥ on inferno. You have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue how others play these missions. Fencers can carry damn near any mission without the highest level ♥♥♥♥. That's just how kiting enemies works.

Most people could have all the weapons and still suck at the game. I started carrying people on missions like 97 on 4.1 with low armor, but it took forever kiting enemies around and slowly clearing things. I farmed 800K and was doing the mission in a 3rd the time and the majority of people needing the mission still didn't have the armor to survive it for long..
