Final DOOM

Final DOOM

Final Doom only loads in DoSBoX?
I'm not some super computer nerd, but I can load Ultimate Doom, Doom 2 (and from Doom 2 the extra levels), and they load as if they were just a regular application, they just load in their own window. However, for whatever reason, if I try to load Final Doom or the extra levels for Doom 2 (in its standalone app), they both load in DoSBox. I'd just like to play Final Doom, but because it's in DoSBoX, i've no idea where to go, and ending up accidentally finding myself in a level through DoSBoX and found that I can't edit my controls through it either. In short, I'd like to not use DoSBoX, but not being some computer expert, I don't know how to get around it. Thanks in advance if you know how to help me.

Unfortunately, Final Doom and Master Levels didn't receive the Unity Update like the two first Doom games. Meaning they can currently only be played using DosBox if launched directly from Steam.

However, if you have Ultimate Doom or Doom 2, the easiest way to play them is to download the add-ons directly from the games. For example, in the main-menu for Doom 2, you can go in the Add-Ons menu and download the two Level Packs from Final Doom (TNT-Evilution and Plutonia).
Best idea would be to avoid the Unity port altogether and get a sourceport. There's one for every taste under the sun.

If you just want the classic vanilla experience, look up Chocolate Doom and Crispy Doom. They're designed to emulate the original gameplay as closely as possible.

If you're interested in speedrunning, look up PrBoom Plus. It has demo recording compatibility that's used to verify speedruns on DooM speedrunning sites.

If you're interested in playing mods, get GZDoom. My sourceport of choice, with an extensive array of features that push the DooM experience to its limits.

If you're interested in multiplayer, look up Zandronum. This is the only sourceport with its own Steam Community Group; it's designed specifically for cooperative and deathmatch play.

And most importantly, get a frontend launcher like ZDL. This way, you can organize your mods without needing to write .BAT batch scripts or .INI files; the frontend program will allow you to set the mod loading order through the frontend's graphical interface.

Is this doable without a bethesda.net account? I don't particularly want to make another useless account just for an addon.

Sadly no.

Just fork over the dosh for the DooM Classic Complete bundle here on Steam and get a sourceport.
