Mallet notes not counting?

For some reason not a single mallet note has counted thus far. I tried Symph No. 5 on easy with basic scoring. Still not showing any progress on it?

Anyone have any ideas?

Make sure you have the setting to auto fail the song when you miss the first note. Hitting restart song won't count towards the achievement.

Make sure Shin-Uchi isn't turned on too.

The achievement progress gauge updates sporadically, for me it felt like it updated in increments of 20 so just keep playing and exit out of the game mode every now and then to see if the count updates.
