Error 12029 and other fails. It's getting old.

So I finally thought I would try this game. Turns out I can't even create an account.
All I get is the 12029 server error.
Googled it and found a lot of others with the same issue.

So I went offline. Made a name and clicked the avatar icon. Tells me 'there are no images' in a popup window.
I click ok. nothing happens.
It doesn't freeze, the button just doesn't do anything. Buttons still light up when I mouse over them, but I can't click them. I can't exit. (Ctrl Alt Delete) and now I'm wondering why I payed for this crap.

Now I get past the avatar crap by not clicking it. And I get 3 panels to choose from, Storm, Stadium, and Canyon. I pick Canyon and get a blank screen with blue clouds.
Buttons do nothing, again. Another Ctrl Alt Delete moment.

Someone please tell me I'm not the only one with these issues? I know the network crap is widespread and they 'think' they fixed the problem. Apparently not.
But this other crap is just unbelievable to top it off.

Is this yet another game where I'll have to toss this to the side and count it as a loss?
I've started to keep track of how many products do not work as described, or simply fail to work in the first place. And I feel like I'm about to put a $ limit to my personal collective loss. And maybe the loss of others.

Another interesting side note. The class action waiver in section 12 doesn't hold much weight against federal consumer protection laws. Anyone can make a contract and sign any of their rights away. But it doesn't mean we actually lose rights for doing so. Especially when they conflict with federal law. Concepcion case or not, it's only a matter of time before that gets thrown out.
I've already submitted my 'support' ticket for the matter. But there are far more games that have done the same thing. So it's getting old.

Is it necessary to sign in to play the solo games? Here in New Zealand we are quite used to developers not providing competent connectivity for customers abroad and therefor, by Default, many of us steer away from developers like Maxis (EA) who's copyright protection depends on a constant and competent available server before the game can be initiated at all or the game is mulitplayer heavy.

lol That would explain a few things. My not so distant relatives are hosting the servers. Actually that would explain the whole thing.

Mason, I took a twenty dollar gamble to see if I had the same problem (with faith that I might be able to fix it and relay back a solution). I was successful with my registration here in New Zealand however it could be that that mania are continually to fix and patch and I just ran a more updated copy.

The other user here had issues because the login screen was hidden behind the game screen (usually fixed with Alt + Tab to minimize the game window - But newbies to PC wouldn't know that right off the bat) in the version I played it appears Mania has now implemented the registration in a manner where it appears on the game screen itself.

The game is working brilliant for me but I've just attempted the first race to come to find that the game is morbidly hard and appears to be one that requires a lot of practice so probably not ideal for young children.

I'm not sure what's going on unless you're in a country much farther from Mania than I am. I will say that I've logged in improperly a couple of times by pressing A button to blink through menus before Mania had a chance to log itself in. Have you tried clearing cache folders for your browers, Steam and running something like CCleaner? You might have some junk cookies clogging up your connection.

Also I am not running any anti-virus or firewalls aside from Windows Firewall so you might want to check that too.

I haven't come across it in Windows 8 but I also remember that the Program Files folder in 7 caused issues sometimes because of the "(x86)" after it. If that's the case you will have to reinstall and use Steam's new option to choose your installation directory.

As well you can always go to Steam\SteamApps\Common enter the properties for the main executable and try setting it to run in admin and Windows XP compatible.

well if your getting the error 12028 then im getting the error 72249 everytime i try and select my zone for my region
