I was going to try to stick to one patch a week but I'm no good at that. Especially with serious concerns like save game issues!

fix: Only one Classroom in the tower will work at a time

Happy May 4th!

I want to get the release out before I finish watching the original Star Wars movies! This one will be a little long-winded =)

As requested by several people, I've updated the Load Game window to allow for the last five saves. As I originally designed this game to be too hard I'm still working on reducing that and this should help.

I've made a lot of tweaks on this patch to get Peaceful mode to be more in line with its name. One of the challenges as a solo-dev is becoming blind to the difficulty as you're too well practiced.

Key changes:

• Erratic Essence will be half as powerful in Peaceful mode
  
• Erratic Essence will dissipate if the tower is under attack in Peaceful mode
  
• Mages unhappiness level to quit has been massively reduced, but still possible

I've come to dislike my idea on having Erratic Essence stick to the tower if any Essence Reapers are active. It causes nearly all people to forget to turn back on the Essence Reapers, or forget to turn it off and take more damage than intended. This has been disabled! I've updated the tutorial/tips to not even mention turning off the Reapers and hope this helps!

Feedback on this next change is highly encouraged as I'm not sure I nailed it. There have been a lot of requests to make the notifications easier to work with and I've designed a new category system with a filter. This should allow you to use the Notification window more effectively!

Yet another requested feature was the ability to control the auto-assign, especially for larger towers. This will allow you to filter the mages/students out depending on their promotion level.

I haven't forgotten of all the suggestions and complaints on UI and have a couple more. Crafting recipes will now show the skill and attribute associated.

As well as new room descriptions! This will need more love as I want to get more details in for what skills might be necessary which then let's you know what attributes might apply. I'll get that going for next weeks patch.

• Priority Dropdown - Show all five options to avoid scrolling
  
• Removed the F12 debug controller display
  
• Reduced fleeing thoughts from 5 to 1 maximum (I almost died...)
  
• Fixed a bug in the Merchant window where the amount to sell wasn't resetting
  
• Room Assignment won't except mages that have a job labeled as "Will Not Do"
  
• Expanded Dimensional Door distance to stop mages from getting stuck
  
• Increased room attachment check to attempt to fix the rooms becoming disabled for no reason
  
• Fleeing mages will no longer get "stunned" when hit
  
• I haven't been promoted thought has been limited to x5 and will start to fall off after 3 days
  
• Added new option to disable the Summon Boss auto-save feature

I'm still working on the crafting system to help with the challenges people have had with auto-craft/generate tasks and having multiples of the same room. Hopefully I'll have better luck soon!

I added more to the Promotion window to help understand how happiness will change based on needs. I've also added a warning message in case the mage might want to quit after promotion.

A request from @Seros Senric's note on UI suggestions I got in tonight as well to show in the Mage Jobs what is loved/hated at a quick view. It's a little hard to read the hate image and I might need to tweak that in the future:

Good evening!

I'm all rested from a few days off and back, ready to fire out fast updates!

I've had a couple of reports today from @erikrobson and @BlueOrange about enemies not following Dimensional Door links. Thanks for the save games; this helped narrow down the issue!

There were two problems at play here. The first was the logic of how the enemy AI would re-use a door after a specific time limit. This time limit has been increased, and the logic has been fixed to be used properly. The time limit prevents creating dead ends for the enemy, which allows them to use a door that is linked but after x time in-game (now sixty minutes).

The second issue was using lightning traps right before the door; somehow, this made the AI think they had reached the door, which counted as using it. That then triggered the first problem again, but in a different way! Ahh programming AI is fun =)
I've seen a lot of feedback that the UI is a problem, which I'm happy to fix. My challenge as a solo dev is knowing everything and having difficulty pretending I don't know. I've tried to do that tonight and found a bug in the Mage Stats window to equip food and drink. The tooltip was supposed to work like the Robes/Staff to show what they need and want, but it wasn't loading and is now fixed!

Another area that has been raised is getting details into the Promotion window for the dropdown to display information. Trying to apply the same rule above while looking at this I realized my tooltip for Skills was lacking useful information so I updated it and added it.

The final thing for this patch is fixing the Dimensional Door inside the Foyer to spawn correctly when loading the game. RuneSnow ran afoul of this bug at a bad time while under attack, allowing the enemies to teleport anywhere from the front door!

The goal is to continue to add more UI tweaks, and the two primary goals for this week are to improve the auto-orders/task hopping and let you load farther back with the previous auto-saves. They're in the works but need a lot more testing.

It's been a fun week, and I still have more changes to go (multiple saves, auto-order/crafting smarts), but next week, I'm back at the day job, which will mean the patches will be a bit slower. Thanks for everyone's feedback it's been super helpful.

I'm back with another polish update from the heights of the tower!

It’s all about mastering the craft! To avoid cluttering the gameplay with an extended tutorial, I’ve introduced several new tips:

Apprentice Promotion: Learn about equipping new types of food and drink when an Apprentice advances to a Novice.
Student Potential: A nifty notice will now pop up when promoting students, highlighting their potential.
Clinic Operations: Understand how beds are designed and should be used for effective healing.
Dimensional Door Usage: New tips will guide you on linking Dimensional Doors for efficient transport across the tower.

Apologies to all players as I had a really silly bug that blocked achievements! This has been repaired and you can squish the Bugbear Shaman to check that one off.

• Skill Balancing: All Munitions skills have been switched to Wit, and Combat Expertise has moved to Reason to enhance gameplay balance.
  
• Building Interface: Removed the scroll wheel from the Build menu. You can now zoom in and out during building—let me know if you miss the old way, and I might add an option back!
  
• Library and Loading Fixes: Library tasks will now self-heal on load if previously stuck due to corrupt save data.
  
• Ghostly Students: Those candidate student clones lingering outside the tower? They should be gone now.
  
• Glossary Completion: Missing pages in the Headmaster's Office glossary have been retrieved and are back where they belong.
  
• UI Enhancements: Fixes in job/role editing and order panel prioritization have been implemented to reduce confusion and enhance user experience.
  
• Portal Room and Merchant Updates: Enhanced functionality with shift + ctrl clicking to quickly modify item quantities.
  
• Combat Readiness: A new alert will notify you if a mage is attempting to engage in combat unarmed.

Save System Enhancements: Introducing access to the last five saves directly from the Load Game screen.
Character Loadouts: I'm exploring the idea of saving specific character sets, especially for Custom Mode.
Auto Order Improvements: Expect refinements for a more intuitive and efficient crafting experience.
