i wasted now two hours trying to fix this, i tried fake borderless window, actual windowed, i tried different resolutions and aspect ratios (assuming it could have been an issue with that) forcing the game to run at 60Hz... nothing, always crashing +-1 second around the same spot.
Edit:
Setting the game into copmatibility mode for windows 7 got me past that mentioned reproducable CTD, yet it still crashed a mission later once. If i find anything else that might fix it ill report it but so far... its still random if the game holds up... :-S
-Right click the game in Steam's library.
-Properties
-Betas
-Select the NO G4WL option.
-Went to Local Files tab on the same window
-Clicked Browse
-Right clicked Ace Combat_AH.exe
-Clicked Properties
-Selected Compatibility tab
-Selected Windows 7 for Compatibility mode
-Run it from that .exe directly (it'll ask to be ran as an administrator since it's using compatibility mode. Accept it).
-Affter starting the game, I manually went through the different settings for graphics. Turned on VSync. For some reason for me it was set to a different resolution than what my monitor was.
I've had some issues crop up in certain missions forcing you to restart at a checkpoint (my favorite being the cruise missile you have to destroy, as sometimes the game thinks it's escaped much earlier than it should), but no crashing or freezing for me. Unfortunately this won't work for everyone as this game seems to react to everyone's computer's setup a little differently.
