So yeah, we're looking into how to keep the reset feature in, but preventing it to be used in griefing and immediate returns to the road.
Something like?: Your car needs to be (relatively) still/immobile for say, 3 seconds before the reset is available and also once you press reset, it'll take, say 2 secs for the car to actually reset. And maybe a visual indicator (for other players) that 'this guy' has pressed reset and is about to vanish.
Generally though, the player should not be able to reset for 2 seconds after colliding with something or since being upside down. Too many times have I seen players force reset their vehicle directly after the smallest of taps from an opposing player.
I don't think banning/removing it is even an option. That'd be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waiting to happen. What would you do, when you end up on your roof/side? Just wait until someone *maybe* hits you and *maybe* turns you over? Or just sit and wait until the round is over? Uhh, no.
Just needs a timer or something to prevent abuse.
Yeah i second that one.
Just last night I was leading on the WIP Sandpit with the loop in reverse. Its the last lap and I have a great lead going into the loop. Get my speed down perfect make my way around it and just as I get back on the gas, a car slams full speed head on into me. He had all the speed for the section before wich is basically a straight line and rammed right into me as I was finishing the loop. He sent me flying backwards past the tires and before I could even do anything he reset his car instantly and took off for the win. I still finished 3rd, but it is rediculous that he could abuse the reset system to ram me off the road, reset his car back on the track pointed in the right direction, and take off before I could even do anything to stop him.
That is exactly why I am against the reset button all together. It facilitates the idea that your action have no real consequesces. You can just reset you can before someone hits you, or before you finish flipping end over end because you hit that bump too hard.
There deffinatly needs to be some sort of mobility check involved with resetting and a timer to make it balanced. Also a host option to turn it off would be great too. I personally feel like if you are upside down, thats just the same as being wrecked. If someone has you pinned to a wall, well that sucks, but it is a viable tactic in derbys. Eliminating resets would be an option for hardcore players and would make people think before they try to take you out.
1)
In DERBY
NO restart possible,
except when lying on roof and not having contact to any enemy car for 10 seconds.
2)
RACES:
restart after 5 seconds possible.
3)
SMALL FIGURE 8 MAP
on this small figure8 map it would also be very interesting to have no reset...
