Clean or dirty races
So i just joined a server with a bunch of guys and after the race i got kicked for no apparent reason.

With being new to this game i´m just wondering if there is a way to spot "clean races" and races with no rules? Not talking about a demolition derby here obviously :)

The only 2 places i could think of that would have some text describing the server to be clean would be in the server name and in the lobbychat :)

Thanks in advance/ Lucas Safferson

I haven't tried multiplayer, but do people really have races where you can't smash into each other? Isn't that the main selling point of the game?
Lotsa Oct 4, 2014 @ 6:16pm
I have been having fun, there is the occasional moron who decides to go in the opposite direction when racing to cause crashes, apart from that I have noticed most people want to complete the race and not have the DNF next there name.

Still, on the last lap its every man for himself/Herself and there has been some make or brake moments thats for sure..

Raz: Yeah i´ve been in multible servers that states that it´s a "clean race server" in the chat, which indeed is a bit weird for this game :) Btw try multiplayer, really fun :)

Lotsa: Yeah that should warrant a direct kick and should be built into the netcode, but yeah it really feels like the type of game where it is ok (and designed) to have multible crashes throughout the race :)

Well I'm waiting for all the kinks to be worked out, and from what I gather, ping is an issue for a lot of people. I have a great connection, but I don't want to race against a guy with a 100+ ping.

I also agree that driving the wrong way should warrant an automatic kick. Maybe someting like driving backwards for 5 seconds.

I think it's like Lotsa said. You don't expect this game to have really clean races, but there's a difference between racing just to crash people and doing it with a strategy. I've played in a full server where, beside the legit crashers (people not very good at driving, or being bumped out "legitly"), there was this one guy whose only aim was to crash anybody on sight. It's annoying, and these people has to be kicked out.

I think that most "auto" kicks are for high pings, though. I get about 100 as ping in most servers and I don't lag at all, but some people thinks that's too high already, so they kick you out :P

Yup with you all the way there Cunin, staying behind a person trying to overtake whilst he/she is blocking you might result in a little lovetap ^^ Wreckers should be banned and blacklisted from servers.

So i take it there isnt a way to spot "clean" servers? anyone? :)

Btw raz: Depending on where the host/server are in the world people are going to have different pings and that might get a little better later on, who knows :)

Been hosting races for the past 3 hours and 99% of the time I had clean races.

In this particular game what I consider a "clean race" is a race where no one drives the opposite route just to hit someone. Other than that in my oppinion it's a free for all. If you feel like overtaking by spinning the guy out in front of you... well it sucks but this is the nature of the game.

Nice Fila! Looking forward to joining your server :) I usually play Assetto Corsa and yeah the definition of a clean race is quite different from game to game ^^
Fila! Oct 5, 2014 @ 12:56am
Yeah I'd be quite livid if in Assetto Corsa someone decides to overtake me by hitting me and forcing me to spin. It's just a different type of game and to be fair even when you look in real life at this type of competition it's like that. In the NCG real life type of competition they take each other out like crazy too.

Edit: But that's also the difference when you race on tarmac or on gravel/dirt. For example even in NCG I rarely hit anyone when racing on the tarmac track because of the extra control the car has enables me to "drive correctly". Driving on gravel or dirt though it's a different story. Because of the nature of having to drift your way around if the car in front of me is in a bad position... tough luck. I'm not gonna alter my drift in order to avoid hitting someone.

The game's called Wreckfest for a reason.
No driving in the wrong direction, but apart from that anything should be viable.

Haven't had any game where clean driving was enforced, but thankfully several where people driving the wrong way were kicked.

i'm sure that BB will add an option for disabling wrong way on the bigger tracks, i don't mind it on the small fig 8 though, it's more of a banger track anyway. the most annoying thing for me so far is the way people can reset their car in an instant... pls bb if you read this add a 5 second timer or something for the car reset.

Theres lots of talk about having a option for 'no dirving the wrong way' on the forum. You're not alone. No doubt some option in the future,on/off

Personally i like it,helps cause pileups.I also like turning round to stop first so a friend can win. Just avoid people going to the wrong way, make it very clear in the lobby that theres no turning round or host private lobby's if you dont like it with other clean drivers for now

5 seconds car reset would mean you may aswell quit the game, as you'll never catch up, but it can surely be added as a server option (I HOPE Bugbear will add dedicated server executable, and not just user-hosted), because in some race mode it doesn't make sense (like in derby).

I do like to try and race cleanly, to an extent. Everyone likes to smash and crash, and I'm totally cool with pitting someone to get them out of the way, or nudging someone into a wall at just the right moment. But these are races. Driving just to smash cars is what the arenas are for, right?

It can be frustrating when you've clawed your way to a lead and are rocking that ♥♥♥♥ when someone in dead last is driving backwards and takes you out. You take the rough with the smooth. What I don't get is the fustercluck at the start of a lot of races. If you wanna smash people up, it's generally more impressive when you're going fast, and if you wanna race, locking wheels with someonje and sending you both into the wall ain't gonna help! XD

Multiplayer has saved this game title for me. It is a blast! The only thing anyone should get kicked for is intentionally driving the wrong way, but it is easy to get turned around and then realize your facing traffic and correct your direction.
