Driving aids just make you drive worse because you never will expirience the real handling of the car. I for one can't drive with assists. I know how the cars handle and if somethings different i crash the ♥♥♥♥ out of them.
Its like a driving instructor who pulls al the critical strings and just let you play a little with the steering wheel and throttle.
Put of the training wheels and learn how its really done.
No offence intended :) Everybody starts somewhere.
The cars in the game react aggressively to sudden full throttle. You can easily face the wrong way after flooring the throttle.
Whether using a controller with an analogue throttle, or pedals, you have to gradually increase the throttle to avoid the wheels spinning. You can short shift(change up a gear early) when exiting a corner if you feel like your loosing grip.
Controlling the throttle on every corner exit isn't easy, especially when the AI are controlling their acceleration better than you. But unless they put less powerful cars in the game, throttle control will be the key to controlling these powerful wrecks of a car.
I am using the 360 controller. Although I am not using any driving aids, I am still driving with automatic brakes. I will give it a go on manual.
Once you have mastered that then you can start doing scandinavian flicks and more advanced driving techniques.
In this video I am driving the 500hp American car with no assist. I have other videos from Dirt where you can see the rally driving techniques better.

Try this as training.
For manual trans... get the car sideways (oversteer) in first gear or second gear, keep the same throttle angle and maintain the drift. THen shift up into 2nd or even 3rd, car will straighten out. You can do the opposit for understeer... going into a corner to fast and the front of the car wants to drive straight of the track, shift down a gear or 2 and watch the front end dive to the inside into an oversteer drift.
For automatic, simultaneously use your brake and throttle and/or E-brake and throttle, to achieve similar results.
