how do i look around my car? like free look

If you are in third person mode, you should be able to look around, at least behind you and the sides.

only behind me with shift.. how do i see sides? is there a way to rotate any direction smoothly like with mouse some how

Yup, as far as I can tell there is no way to switch view mode. It's not the first racing game ive come across that does that, mainly becuase of the difficulty whilst using a keyboard. I would reccomend a controller, if you can afford one. £20 on amazon for an Xbox controller was pretty decent in my mind.

Hmm I saw some guy rotating around his vehicle, but that was in that special sandbox arena, i dont see that now.

I do have a xbox controller don't I need to buy something tho for it to work on pc

The special thing in sandbox is one of the rotate options, where it spheres around the car, keeping the camera in one angle, allowing the car to go any direction. Also, there is a free mode in the sandbox allowing yo to float outside of the car angle. I dont know how the xbox controller connects to the xbox, if it us USB then it should be fine to go.

How do I play on that sandbox map?

There should be the base Game, and then a sneak peak 2.0. The 2.0 is the sandbox mode.

Controller also allows you to look around your car in the full game, not just in the sneak peek. It's the right analogue stick to do so.

For some reason other control schemes such as wheels and keyboards do not have this opton yet. I assume it's a planned feature and will be included at some point.

ok good to know, I guess you could prob also slightly turn and slightly accelrate/break instead of everything just being on or off haha not easy to play with keyboard :p

ur not smart and the devs for flatout used to be good. default is arrows instead of wasd. wow. and have to use a button to look left or right... wow. wow. flatout ultimate carnage was awesome. totally went to crap after that game. typical
