Wreckfest or Wreckfest DX11 64-bit EXPERIMENTAL
Just curious is there any difference between them, I'm not that knowledgable about it?

Standard Wreckfest is Directx9. players with wimpy computers struggle to play with 64bit version. If you have good enough hardware, the 64bit version plays better.

But 64bit still need tweaking, this 1st version of the 64bit version.

Ok thank you

Until there is some further optimization done , the 64 bit Dx11 version isn't running as well for a lot of people, wimpy PC or not. The DX9 version at the moment is running faster for most people, from what I have seen.
Ok thanks

DX11 uses a better more efficient API, DX9 being a few generations behind, DX11 is a much more efficient Graphics library which as assests, require less GPU power to run
DX12 is potentially the benchmark of all APIs based on its multi threaded support, where as previous APIs only allow for single threaded optimization
Which means less open world written information available at any given time
Now DX11 does have MT support on some games, but there is very little performance boost with this, this is why nVidia and AMD have very little input using this API MT support
AMD had Mantle which is a code to metal API, but it was more intended for lower ended speced PCs or laptops, this was its real benefit
Vulcan has now replaced this and is being worked on via Open Source, which makes things easier to be able to adopt being that anyone could assist

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulkan_%28API%29

OpenGL = an alternative to DX library which is Microsoft owned

Now TL:DR, to answer your question DX11 should perform better than DX9, or give you better graphics fidelity with around same GPU perfromance hit, maybe a little more...

Need to mention that DX11 does perform better (if you have newer hardware from the past three years), but also has more bugs.
EG: more regular game crashes in DX11, and the game breaks if you alt-tab out while in full screen mode. If you play DirectX11 and like to alt-tab you need to put it in windowed mode.

Even though DX11 has worse frame rate performance I use the normal DX9 version to avoid those other bugs. Hopefully they fix it in the next month so we can all enjoy DX11 benefits without those crashes.

I used the Windows mode trick so I run Wreckfest in 64bit mode and now I got me a new 960, I want my eye candy!! :P

I used Display Driver Uninstaller[forums.guru3d.com] to get rid of my old drivers and went with the new Nvidia 355.82 drivers[www.guru3d.com].

I can report my computer survive the upgrade process ( got rid them dust bunnies for another year! ) and Wreckfest and Mad Max still run. :D

Here the benchmarks I got using Fraps with the 660:

2015-09-02 14:40:20 - Wreckfest_x64 Gravel track
Frames: 7912 - Time: 200000ms - Avg: 39.560 - Min: 23 - Max: 53 1280x960 max 2xMSAA

2015-09-02 14:50:40 - MadMax Outer Graves
Frames: 10822 - Time: 200000ms - Avg: 54.110 - Min: 35 - Max: 63 1600x1200 Ultra high

Here the benchmarks I got using Fraps with the 960:

2015-09-02 19:40:36 - Wreckfest_x64
Frames: 10292 - Time: 200000ms - Avg: 51.460 - Min: 31 - Max: 66 1280x960 max 2xMSAA

2015-09-02 21:55:45 - MadMax
Frames: 11976 - Time: 200000ms - Avg: 59.880 - Min: 52 - Max: 63 1600x1200 960 Ultra high

In Mad Max the 960 got me about a 6 FPS increase in avg FPS. In Wreckfest the 960 got me about a 12 FPS increase in avg FPS.

I hope I can now run Wreckfest at 1600x1200 now and keep FPS above 40 FPS.

Edit:

2015-09-02 23:40:45 - Wreckfest_x64
Frames: 9013 - Time: 200000ms - Avg: 45.065 - Min: 27 - Max: 57 1600x1200 max 2xMSAA

In my rig, which is fully DX 11 and 64 bit compliant, I get FAR better stability and performance in the DX 9 Build. The DX11 hasn't crashed on me at all (yet),but the settings in DX11 and the FPS in the game are far less impressive performance wise. I get far better frame rate @full up settings and 1080p (1920x1080) with the DX 9 build.

This is full up settings.(MSAA full up/no FXAA)

And it should be, as it has less overheads

At least 50fps all setting maxxed in the DX11 version, no reason for me to use 9. Try both, see which one works best.

It just tries to scare you off with all-caps EXPERIMENTAL word, like it's going to overload your flux capacitors or something.

Hahaha. I switched to DX11 since this thread appeared. I'm enjoying it.
