Same thing happened to me

I assumed this was happening to everyone, but then the forum would be full of "Failed to create texture" threads. Anyone NOT getting this?

i don't think so.
the error seems to be pretty random. i got the error about 3 or 4 times, the other 6 times i started the game, finished a race and closed the game i didn't get the error.

so it's really hard to say what causes it.
for me: i get the error when i try to leave the score-screen back to the garage.

The plot thickens!

did anyone find a fix for this?

there was a small update a few days ago. doesn't seem to happen since then.
but i coul'd be wrong.

no errors so far. I only picked the game up yesterday after the July 9th update so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

If you're receiving the dreaded error message 'Failed to create texture ()' it's most likely because you're running out of system memory when using maximum texture quality. This might happen since our game is currently a 32-bit application and can only address 2GB of memory.

The easiest solution is to reduce the texture quality by one notch. If you're into tinkering you could also enable the Large Address Awareness flag in the executable, but it's not recommended or supported by us because it might cause other issues.

win7 64bit, 8gb ram, i2500k, amd 4gb r290. perhaps my ram is faulty. i will check it out. it never occured until the new update. and it only occurs only on the "tarmac" track.

I doubt there's anything wrong with your system, it's just that we will need to optimize the Tarmac track when we finalize it. The track currently has so many assets that it's easy to run out of memory especially after it becomes fragmented.

@ZigCat, what resolution are you using to play NCG? Seem a high resolution can bring on this error:

Memory maxed on continue for tarmac[community.bugbeargames.com]

Absolutely, the higher the resolution the higher the memory footprint.

@Purple44: standard full HD (1920×1080), all options cranked all the way up, AO, AA, reflections, particles, vsync. the whole thing windowed and forced into borderless windowed mode per the "Windowed Borderless Gaming" tool.

to test things out, i just finished 3 10 lap races with 23 opponents on the tarmac track with no problem.
looks like the last two build fixed it.
or at least for me. =)
