Differences between Game Pass and Steam versions?

I've been playing Wreckfest through PC Game Pass for a while now. I'm planning on ending my subscription soon, but would like to keep playing the game. I think I'd rather purchase the Steam version rather than the one from the MS store. (It doesn't bother me if I lose progression going from one to the other).

It's my understanding that Steam has crossplay with Epic and GoG, whereas MS store does not. I'm wondering if there are any other significant differences between the versions that I should consider before purchasing? Any differences for better/worse in how to set up multiplayer events?

One thing that bothers me with the MS store version is that the Tournaments menu is always empty. Is this the case on Steam as well? I've played the Xbox version of the game (albeit a few years ago), and there were lots of things going on in the Tournaments section, with lots of fun ways to earn fame and buy things like the Battle Bus or whatever. Is this area of the game just dead now, regardless of platform? Or is this something specific to the MS store version?

PC Game Pass has not been updating in years. So Tournament is way out of date.

Also, I don't think you can load mods from Wreckfest Workshop. A lot of mods there to spice up your Wr3eckfest. :)

Wreckfest is on sale at Steam. Cheap $12. Might want to buy the 2 season passes too! :)

@Butterbrot thanks, yeah I'm not worried about save files or progress between the two versions. I played through the campaign on Xbox, then again on PC Game Pass, and am totally fine with doing it again on Steam - that's part of the fun.

@P44 good point about the workshop mods, I forgot about that. Also very glad to hear the Tournaments work. And yes, the current sale is what got me thinking about all this in the first place!
