What does the little red exclamation mark that says (Performance Reduced!) when I hover over it mean?
In an online lobby, there's a little red exclamation mark, and if I hover over it, it says Performance Reduced. What does this mean? And does it have anything to do with the terrible framerate I randomly get when I play online?

you have to go to the market and replace the broken parts

I like to buy spare parts before I play online to save the time spent in Marketplace to buy parts while in game and then replace old parts. I just have to replace parts only.

The red exclamation means one car part or more is in the red and will effect performance of the car. Brake part in the red, good luck braking for the turns in Tarmac 2. :P

Thanks fellas, half my parts were in the red. Strangely, didn't seem to slow me down any on the track.

Kinda weird that this wasn't explained anywhere. Even searching this forum turned up no hits.

It's an interesting dymanic, but kind of pointless considering how cheap parts are. And if someone is flat broke and all their parts are broken, what're they to do? You can't exactly win races with broken/missing parts.

You don't have to win to get money. Also, unless you're just trying to destroy the car, you are guaranteed to get money with the first car you buy, that starts with new parts.

True, and that's the other problem: it's insanely easy to make money. So having to make money to buy parts is mostly just a gimmick, cause everyone's gonna immediately upgrade their car to have the fastest parts. And right now it's just a pain in the ass cause if you're in a multiplayer game, you have to back out to go to the marketplace.

I could see it making a little sense if there were races with restricted classes, like is done in Forza. Would be kinda cool actually, cause a person could concentrate on upgrading suspension and tires instead of their engine and stay within the same class.

In any case, it's silly of them to waste time developing trivial, gimmicky stuff like this when graphical peformance is still in the toilet for so many.

So what do you suggest?

You don't have to back out. Click "Change Car". There's a market button at the top.

We're racing scrap cars here. This is not Forza, I hate to tell you. There might be classes, but they really don't mean all that much.

It's what we're calling (or I'm calling) the beginnings of career mode. They're making what they want to make, they will fix what they need to when they do, and unless you can code it better than Bugbear can (I can't), you're just gonna have to wait until it DOES get fixed. Because you and I both know that they're trying as hard as they can to get it working for everyone.

Don't have to back out eh? Good to know. Would be kinda nice if this stuff was more intuitive, or explained better, lol.

To be fair, though, even though this is supposed to be a demo derby offroad game, it's the paved tracks and non-contact style racingthat seem the most popular. Wouldn't surprise me if down the road, folks actually do have class restriction races. Would honestly be pretty fun for everyone to be stuck in slow cars again. Forces us to concentrate on proper liines through corners and keeping our speed up and whatnot. Having so much power just makes me overshoot corners or fight oversteering oversteer through them.

Hmm, well the (!) icon came back just now. But when i went to my garage, none of the parts were in the red.

That happens ocassionally. I don't know if it's a bug, or sometimes you just have a low average durability for your parts and it pops up (all 40s or something).

Must be. I ended up just replacing everything below 50 and it went away.
Mr. VaXXX Dec 30, 2015 @ 12:06am
when this parts patch released their was an up roar about it, i still know players that refuse to play the game becuase of it, i think that is why parts are so cheap, so every one can use them, having expensive parts handicaps the noobs and the last thing bugbear should be doing is giving players like me advantages, its messed up atm but at least everyone can drive and buy parts.

as far as my car goes, i check my parts every race and change from red if needed. not saying im happy about it but only takes 2or3 seconds, most of my cars are all out of racing parts now, so difficult to keep up with my parts wear, im fatigued by it, cant focus on fast laps anymore, 2 busy buying parts. if i quit wreckfest it will be because parts wear has taken up all my time, it needs a rethink.

These cars ARE slow. Proper lines are the key to winning in any car or race even wrecker racing.
