Game not detecting Radeon RX 580 GPU
When I launch the game, the popup menu only shows Intel integrated HD graphics, and as a result, the game plays extremely slow despite me having a Radeon RX 580 GPU. Any advice on fixing this?

The m970 should handle Wreckfest with medium to high graphic settings and maybe MSAA 2x. Maybe get 40-60 FPS. depending on the track.

But you may have do this trick to get Wreckfest to see your laptop's m970:

MY PRIMARY DISPLAY ADAPTER IS NOT DETECTED BY THE GAME!
Most likely you need to create a profile for the game in the display adapter settings and make sure the profile is set to use the primary display adapter. If you're using NVIDIA Optimus, create a new profile in the NVIDIA Control Panel under 3D Settings/Manage 3D Settings for the game, and make sure that 'High-Performance NVIDIA processor' is selected as the preferred graphics processor in Program Settings. For AMD users, the process is pretty much the same. Furthermore, if your laptop has an on-board switch for selecting between Stamina and Speed modes, make sure that Speed is selected; the primary display adapter is available only in the Speed mode.

Can go to Wreckfest launch options and type in: -setup

This bring up WF setup window when you go to start Wreckfest. Can see what GPU Wreckfest is using.

Can be done this way too:

Thanks for the help. I solved the problem a little differently. On the desktop, right-click-screen settings-graphics settings-overview, select the folder with the game-set the high-performance processor. And everything worked.

Thanks, does it have instructions for a AMD GPU as opposed to a NVIDA GPU?

Funny you should mention this. Yesterday I finally yanked a 8gb RX580 from my son's desktop and replaced it with a 6gb GTX1660 card (not Super, that's on my other son's desktop). I've known for a long time that Wreckfest really likes Nvidea cards and performs poorly on AMD. Far fewer FPS, very dark screen, it just sucks. But the reason for yanking the RX out was due to it giving him issues playing Fortnite, even at the lowest graphics setting. I tried a diff 580 from Asus, a 570 and they all failed to impress. Put in the low cost, fairly outdated GTX1660 and the diff is like night and day (literally, as the screen isn't so dark anymore).

Sure, this may not address your issues but something to keep in mind if you want better FPS in Wreckfest and most other games. Yes, I run a test on 4 other games and they all showed an increase in fps, but none more so than Wreckfest.

What I would do: open the AMD control panel (right click the desktop) and see if there is a setting there to give the RX priority. Failing this I'd consider doing a reinstall of the latest AMD control panel/drivers as a factory install.

Honestly I am done with AMD cards. Have had so many headaches with just about all of them. I'm no Nvidea fanboy by any account but I just get so much less hassle with these - not to mention far better performance. Especially in Wreckfest.

Another idea: try launching Wreckfest from within the AMD interface. This ought to be a sure way to get it running under the RX. If you haven't tried this before, just right click the desktop and you'll see the option to launch games from there (by pointing right to the game's folder and the exe file). It should also automatically launch Steam once Wreckfest starts.

Wreckfest not going use a RX 580 until you see it listed in the Render Device in the Setup window, and click on it.

Once Wreckfest has pick a onboard graphic chip, WF going stick with it until you change it or delete the settings files where Wreckfest keeps it save files:

\Steam\userdata\3795*****\228380\local\wreckfest

Alright, I created a profile in AMD Adrenalin, deleted my local settings, and launched the game through AMD Adrenalin, and the GPu is still not showing in the dropdown list. I also tried running the application as an administrator and in compatibility mode for Windows 8, and still no luck.

This is very disappointing, since this means the game is more or less unplayable despite me never having this problem with any other game, or with Wreckfest using an older AMD GPU. I'll basically have to wait until I upgrade my GPU and just "hope" that Wreckfest is compatible with it. I may have to change my review to "negative" until this is resolved.

I'd really appreciate it if the developer would release a fix, or at least put a warning in the Steam store that the game may NOT be compatible with newer GPUs than the recommended one. Regardless, thanks to everyone for the help.

Actually, there is one more fix I may try. I'll try using an HDMI cable and plugging my monitor directly into my graphics card and report back later.

Nevermind the above, I found a fix. Here's the original post:

Go to Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Wreckfest / Wreckfest x64 > Options > High performance

How you get to here? Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Wreckfest / Wreckfest x64 > Options > High performance

I only got to the Display page. Don't see anything to click to get to Graphics page?

I do hope you have the monitor plugged into the graphics card though, otherwise it won't be using your graphics card

Underneath "Multiple Displays", you should see a blue link which says "graphics settings" if you're using Windows 10.

I have an analog cable plugged in, because my HDMI slot is taken up for my VR headset. Does this make a difference in performance if the game is still detecting the GPU?
