And yes try not to hit cars all the time... just watch the timer and chip them off 1 by 1. Don't let the full health ones keep full health or they will be strong on the end of the derby.
Pick your fights, don't get hit and ram first :)
When making contact, think about your opponent's momentum. If they're stationary or not moving towards you, you'll hurt them and take virtually no damage in return. If they're moving towards you, even on a diagonal, you'll take damage relative to the speed they're doing and the angle of impact. Simply put, aim for stopped cars and rear-enders whenever possible. Never accept a head-on.
@Wolfey, normal damage.
when you get the timer, just fender bend another car and keep avoiding.
cars cant take any beating even whit armor upgrade.
For normal I'd start by keeping aloof. All you need to do is bump somebody every thirty seconds. Let the AI fight it out for the first while, then start picking off the survivors. The most important thing is to avoid head-on crashes and getting hit while you're stopped. Take any easy hits you can get, avoid actually fighting until there are only a few cars left.
Having the right car and the right setup is also vital. As you can probably guess, a heavy car is better for all kinds of reasons. Bigger cars are usually stronger, although this isn't always true. And they build up more kinetic energy, so when you hit somebody it does a lot more damage. It's also much easier to flip somebody with a heavy car, and flips do a ton of damage.
Armour and strength aren't as simple as the stats make it seem. All cars have an invisible "armour" stat which governs their damage resistance. It's also directional, so you only need to upgrade the areas which get hit a lot. That means priority goes to the front and sides, the rear is optional and the top does nothing. Armour can make virtually any car derby-ready, including a few you would never expect like the Firefly.
All the big American cars are great at derbies, especially the WarWagon and MudDigger. But you have plenty of other options. The Tristar is innately very tough - all the Asian cars are. And the smaller European cars can sometimes pack a punch, the Firefly in particular does really well at derbies. It's very hard to catch or pin down, and it gets Bull Bars front & back - which have the strongest Armour stat.
drive hard, die first is the reality.
Race around the edges and only hit cars when you can t-bone them at high speed.
Don't make too many hits or your car will fall apart.
It's best to wait until the timer pops up.
At the start of the match avoid the other cars and head for the edge of the track.
If you destroy a car, you get a lot more points. Wait until the other cars are already damaged a little and their armor is gone.
