TrackIR 5 Support
Will this game eventually support Track IR?
It makes immersion as intense as VR without the strap-on TV's, it's also not a very big job to insert the needed code for Track IR and Tobii mapping.

More support for stuff is always good, and I hope they do add TrackIR support for those who would use it but no, the feeling of immersion with trackIR is not comparable in any way to what you get with VR. Not even close. But as a hands-free way to look left and right, sure, it would be nice.

Hang on a sec Jayeffar,
I have tried both and what I said is correct for many more people than you think mate. I simply can not handle any weight hanging off the front of my head (neck/back injuries) And also I can look as freely as my head moves including tilt - As for the mighty 'never to be bettered' LOL resolution of VR, remember that VR is small screens at eye glass distance, meaning the quality can be maintained while using a very small space (anything looks good on a small screen). The only upside to VR is the closed environment from a 'goggles' style play whereby nothing but the screen is visible - but for many playerrs, it's just too claustrophobic, or the residence is just too hot to have the gear strapped on. Track IR moves as your sight would in any vehicle, perfect for truck games.

Personaly, after trying VR multiple times because it was/is the latest thing, I found the complete opposite experience than that of the Track IR 5 experience, and to make a point in fact, there is definitely NO comparison, not even close :)

I agree with most of the things you said about trackIR. It is a really good, convenient technology. For many people, for all the reasons you listed, it may be preferable to strapping on a VR headset. But immersive it isn't. You're still sitting at your computer desk with your room around you, staring at a small rectangle that stays put when your turn your head. TrackIR can become intuitive to control, but it absolutely does not move as your sight would. When I turn my head to the left in real life, I do not have to turn my eyes back to the right to see what I should be looking at.

What makes VR immersive is the perfect 1-to-1 mapping of the world rendering around you, and the three-dimensional environments. In a racing game, you actually feel like you are physically sitting in your car.

Again, I am not arguing it is *better* than trackIR for racing (even though I obviously prefer it). It does have the downsides you mentioned. But the *immersion* factor is not comparable.

I'll agree to dissagree mate. Ever been in a simulator? is there any VR content in a real-life flight simulator? what about car/truck/bike/machinery driving setups with all the controls and panels in front of you, and closed in sides with detail, there are some very impressive community A10 Warthog cockpits out there and not a VR headset in anyone of them. It's about the distance between the controls and my eyes that gives 'me' perfect immersion hands down. I'm looking forward to building my own cockpit when I have the money for instuments etc.

But in the future when VR is cheap plus so light weight and non-intrusive that it's appealing, I'll buy one.

If VR is your thing, then good on you man, have fun and game on.
*As for this statement,
[When I turn my head to the left in real life, I do not have to turn my eyes back to the right to see what I should be looking at]
This is only true for single screens and the look to the side is measured at the vehicles' window- point, meaning you look outside only if you look out the window and hold the view to that side of the screen BUT,,, 3x "screens" see EXACTLY what the players eyes see, and snap to where they look, staying there and returning to center screen only when looking forward.

Single screens still work perfectly but 3 are the intended use for Track IR setups.

What I've said in this post is the POINT of this post so lets forget VR as it's not going to happen, but Track IR is possible and we should encourage the devs to implement it.

Having a headset on your head is annoying. Track IR or Open Track (I prefer) does add immersion & I hope it happens one day on all "cockpit" capable games

We would need to have an actual cabin view for implementing any kind of VR or whatnot. Right now, you dont have the ability to look around because there is nothing to see. The devs would need to make an actual cabin with all the details.. if not, unless you want to look around and see nothing... there is no point. Why people keep forgetting this game is way far from being a simulator escapes me.

Listen to this dude, lol

Ah yes only simulators can have VR or head tracking support. Stupid us, thank God we got you to keep reminding all of us.

When you use something like VR its because you want immersion into the game. Or maybe you use it for another purpose? o.O so, how the h3ck are you going to have immersion when you dont have anything to look around inside your cabin. Why are the devs going to invest efforts on that? i dont understand people asking for VR or similar things when the game is not even designed for that. Pretty amusing lol.

Getting off track here people. And yes mate, Track IR 5 will work perfectly with the interiors as they are because the line-of-sight is over the dash only, but being able to look left and right over the windscreen/mesh with a slight up/down will work fine. Also being able to see out of side windows/mesh would add to immersion. I use my Track IR 5 on everything that will accept it(even FS19) and I can tell you that it's a win/win for gaming.
