So buses and harvesters...

Look, gonna start this off by saying I love the official release of the game, and the busses and harvesters are fun to drive and race, but can they be eliminated from online banger races?

I've jumped across 5 servers and all of them have them enabled and there is always 5 to 6 people just taking the busses and/or harvesters and blocking the entire track instead of racing so people are ♥♥♥♥ed when they come back around to them, or they are pitting 2 or 3 players into a wall and then stopping so the player is either stuck there or has to reverse for a bit to get around them.

Now I have a heavier car so usually a god ram can just push the busses out of the way or flip them, but not without taking a massive chunk of my health and pretty much stopping me dead. I know the game is wreckfest, I get it, but blocking the entire track and/or blocking people literally ruin the point of even running the race if you gotta deal with this, I'd rather have people in the normal cars driving backwards and purposely taking people out any day of the week over this.

Anyone else have an opinion?

I don't mind people picking buses or combines in the banger races if they actually race (and smash people up if they feel like it) but it is annoying as hell having four or five buses driving the wrong way round the track in banger races. All that happens is the car drivers get killed then quit. Nobody wants to wait for the buses to begin their 8 laps so you end up with a mostly empty server.

What's worse is I've seen server admins/mods trolling with the vehicles as well, or admins on BC Bangers kicking people (me for instance) for calling someone out who is going backwards on a harvester, which is breaking their server rules, this whole situation has killed my interest in playing this game anymore if I'm going to get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by trolls and kicked by admins when I mention it.

I actually can't believe I'm saying this but I miss the early access version...

I think the occasional bus race can be fun. Im finding that if I preset them to be unlocked every 3 or 4 races, and announce in the server message that they will be unlocked every 4 races for example, people can get their fill of a ridiculous round, and then get back to racing.

hopefully the server owners will realise this is incredibly dull and obnoxious

where to begin..

Firstly, you were not kicked for complaining about backwards, you were kicked for the colourful language and insulting names you called players. First rule of BC is have fun, don’t spoil it.. throwing about disgusting language because someone did something you don't like is a great way to get kicked. Chill the salt to avoid kicks.

From my all day sessions, the vast majority of bus drivers where a friendly and helpful bunch who spent entire races going round and flipping cars back onto their wheels and generally having a good time. Sure, a few backwards bits but not a lot of it got overly obnoxious (maybe a little excessive salt lol). Just because someone is in a bus does not mean they’re out to troll.

Buses are here to stay, i'm not about to freak out and stop people using them in BC. Heck.. Have you tried a lobby full of busses on a fig 8? Or any track for that matter? Awesome fun and craziness. Been waiting for years for this release, not about to ban the new stuff!

Trolls will be trolls, and we will deal with it accordingly when we see it. It’s pretty easy to spot when the entire lobby is annoyed at one or two players.

Don’t take getting kicked too personally.. you're welcome back anytime. Please just chill the language, there’s no need to make lobbies toxic.

Ps. the guy (CORN! lol) doing the backwards on the night you are referring to also got kicked just after you did.

Maybe I am the odd one out here, but I could not stop laughing when I was in a race and a bus or harvester was going around in the wrong direction. Even as my car was being rolled into a skinny tube by a harvester, I was laughing like a madman and coming back for more and more. I have countless clean racing games - if I wanted rules, I would play one of them. Even the description on this game's store page says no rules.

I do understand that the special vehicles can get other people angry, so server descriptions should state if special vehicles are permitted. There should not be an outright ban on them.

I had a riot of a time with them, it's hilarious chaos. Your own personal taste should not dictate what is available to everyone else. Ultimately, you should be able to choose a server based on its description, if it allows special vehicles or not. That way, everybody wins.

Alot of the servers I frequent have clamped down already.

It is a bedding in thing.

I think the idea floating around here about limiting the amount is not a bad one but then honestly we were in a game lastnight there musta been maybe 4 buses and 2 harvs and if u build a car right they really are not that big an issue.

I have footage on my stream of me literally punting the buses around in my Rammer RS to the point they were just 100xp when i drove thru them. Didnt slow a bit.

I have said before this is the Dark Souls of racing games and honestly some humility and leaving the ego at the door is required .... if you think you're all that and play to win then you are in the wrong racer because this game is unpredictable, its punishing, its chaotic and anything goes.

But all in a good way :D

I was most exited for deathmatch but now i'll probly never play. Things like a few busses in a figure 8 are fun, but DM harvesters is game over. Purely boring and then when everyone is dead they get to watch the last two take all day to die so they just quit instead. When this released DM was a blast. Wtf are there harvesters in it for? So lame. None of the servers block them

Servers do block them, Harvs are not invincible ... I am no longer frequenting this forum because there is a giant difference between people who have tried and people who just don't get their free win and quit .... The amount of people running loner A class which have ZERO armor is indicative of all this and before you try preach ive been playing non stop and I am one of the few who actually has a bought, modified owned A class car.

It is nigh impossible to tell when there is a problem and when the millenial sore losing mentality is present.

Before you try to refute that I would point you toward Xcom and Dark Souls forums and reviews - games both renowned for their punishing nature yet they get bad reviews for doing EXACTLY what they have always done.

I kinda hosted a C Class / No Rules / No specials server today mainly so people could play without getting bottlenecked by 3 busses stuck in one corner. It would be amazing to just have BUS only events or something else I am thinking of so here me out.

Toggle option for a joker bus who is randomly selected from the list of racers when the match begins and they start at the back of the pack. I would love to have it so if they stay still for too long the bus would blow up or something.

I like the special cars but its either all or nothing for me right now. I don't enjoy bus blockades all that much in tight courses, but each to there own.

It sure sounds fun to visit some obscure underwater russian hand to hand combat sever with 4 players to avoid harvesters. Where have you been? There are average of 2 harvesters and 4 busses in every single race in almost every lobby with people in it. It is not an exaggeration. Nobody is a sore loser be beacuse the griefers don't win. They just purposfully ruin the game for everyone else by spamming a bus into oncoming traffic

I always just race and would never use a bus or a harvester, myself, because I don't find it fun. However, I have no problem with them being in the game. It's also fun to challenge yourself to avoid them. I'd also be very surprised if, in the long run, the majority of servers don't disable special vehicles for most races. I joined one last night where special vehicles were allowed for every 3rd race - it was a great balance.

Driving a special vehicle with the sole intention of wrecking other cars in a destruction derby game is not 'ruining' the game, it's simply playing it. If a server has it set so that special vehicles are on and driving reverse is not against the rules, then you've joined a server where
it's considered fine to do these things. Respect the server settings/rules and find another that suits you better, rather than complaining.

If you can't find any servers like that at the moment, you'll just have to accept that for the time being you're in the loud minority who is not enjoying the extreme chaos this game can throw up. I'm sure that the longer the game's been out, the more the community preference will switch to straightforward and dare-I-say-it boring racing with no weird hazards. And that's coming from someone who's in it for the racing.
