1660ti LOW FPS help!
HELP

I am running my game on a GTX 1660Ti and got a 10th gen intel I7. the game is not running smoothly for some reason even though the benchmarks tells me it should run easily on every setting. on low settings im hitting around 40fps. the game is not smooth and its quite irritating. how do I fix this? I should hit more fps than this. I appreciate every comment. thanks

What resolution? Try turning down Ambient Occlusion,Reflections,Grass and Shadows to medium. The 1660ti does not have the grunt for 4k so go 2560x1440 or 1080p.Also having 8x AA may make this card struggle.

My i5 8400 16gb ram 1060ti runs it smooth with most settings max at 1080

Make sure grass is off and shadows to low. That helps a LOT.

Are you sure the game is running on your dedicated Geforce 1660, and not on your integrated Intel HD card?

You are probably running the game on the Intel one, there should be some setting in the Nvidia control panel, where you can specify which GPU to use.

And GTX 1660 should run this game fine at everything maxed out.

Do you have any idea how I can check this? this could be for real the issue that I have

I'm playing 1920x1080. I'll check if the 8x AA is lowered! thanks for the tip!

You can by going to Help-->System Information at the top. If the Driver and DirectX Card lines both list the 1660ti then you are indeed using it. if Not then either your monitor is plugged into the motherboard and not the 1660ti or your driver for the 1660ti is way out of date.

Thanks! this indeed helped a lot! I came to the conclusion that my game is running on my intergraded graphics card instead of the gtx. I could see this buy opening the menu (-setup in the launchoptions). but it doens't let me change it to the gtx. how can I make the game notice my gtx?

The solution is in that topic too. You have to mess around with NVIDIA Control Panel. I dont have a laptop with a dedicated card, so I cant really tell you the exact steps.

From the linked topic :

"Most likely you need to create a profile for the game in the display adapter settings and make sure the profile is set to use the primary display adapter. If you're using NVIDIA Optimus, create a new profile in the NVIDIA Control Panel under 3D Settings/Manage 3D Settings for the game, and make sure that 'High-Performance NVIDIA processor' is selected as the preferred graphics processor in Program Settings. For AMD users, the process is pretty much the same. Furthermore, if your laptop has an on-board switch for selecting between Stamina and Speed modes, make sure that Speed is selected; the primary display adapter is available only in the Speed mode."

Some more links that might help you.
