For those wondering about the large update sizes

Looking at 00__wreckfest__ in the downloading folder (since I started downloading the update), it is drastically smaller being 87MB instead of the 9GB size the previous update has. Additionally the reason this update is the largest is since many of the files (mainly the art files) previously encrypted in 00__wreckfest__ are now present normally. This not only means that future updates after this should be much smaller, but now you can more easily create texture modifications to the DLC vehicles.

EDIT: For anyone thinking the updates will be this large from now on, it's the opposite. Since the art files are no longer included and encrypted inside 00__wreckfest__ file, any patches that require a change to 00__wreckfest__ will now be much smaller.

finally, so more players we stay playing for longer .. I bet this game losses a lot of new players after they find out big downloads every month...
i get home from work got 1 hour to play and release work stress and have Fun ... BUT oh no playing for me because a massive download again and again

Its kinda ridiculous, keeping in mind we are in 2021. For me it takes no more than 4-5 minutes to download 13 gb, but it is still A LOT. And i completely understand for some people, 9-13 gb every time is really painful. Lets hope BB updates the game engine some day and the game does no longer require to download half of it every update.

They did update the file system in this update. This will probably be the last insanely large update (size wise) since all the art assets are not encrypted anymore and are now individual files like the rest of the game. You can check it for yourself by viewing the size of 00__wreckfest__ as well as looking into the vehicle folder.

I live in Argentina, my download speed is the average of the third world and it's still very costly for us. The massive updates of this game usually take me an entire day to download, if not more (sometimes I need to leave the PC on at night). Not to mention I have slow internet the whole day, even if I pause the download. There has to be a better way to handle updates than forcing us to download 13 GBs with every update. I don't play Wreckfest very often but I like to have it for the occassional fun race if I get bored of racing simulators.

Well this is the last time the updates will be this large, since the art assets are no longer encrypted inside the 00__wreckfest__ file and are now individual files. Future updates after this one should be much smaller and faster to download.

Actually it isnt, but people in the USA, China, Korea or Sweden for example assume it anyway. Imagine that there are still cities, and Im not talking about villages or something, which don't have electricity/steady electricity. Take a look @Russia and Eastern Europe.
Back in Germany we didnt had good Internet mobile connection on trains or the highway and its still a major issue. Many small towns, especially the ones who are not near to a big city, cant even get more than 20Mbit/s.
And dont let me start with our Internet connection here in Cape Town.....

We will be getting a PC hotfix later this week. New update, new bugs to be fix. Like a new uploader.exe file that needed fixing since June 1 update. Janne let us test fix today at WF Discord modding channel. :)

Good for you. You do understand that there are a lot of weak countries, were fast internet simply isn't available, right? Then there are countries, were fast internet costs a lot and not everybody can afford it.

Personally, i don't care, for me it downloads in a few minutes as well, but i can understand why it annoys so many people. Especially considering that it won't be the only download. Just today i booted up Steam and getting greeted by 6 downloads.

"2021" is not a valid argument at all.

And the other point that may or may not annoy people (it annoys me more than the download time) is the strain it puts on an SSD. As we all know, they have a data write limit unlike regular HDD's, which can last for decades.
