We are already looking into multiple options for an anti-cheat and we delete the cheated scores rather often from the leaderboards.
//Zyddie
Here's the problem I'm having: I've been playing this game for years, I'm not great - never will be, driving games are just not my forte - but I know enough, I'm familiar with the game, the tracks, the cars.
On the Doom tournament, the current top score is just shy of 5 million points - whereas I'm around 120k.
Is it mathematically possible to get 5 million points without cheating or exploiting? Because I cannot see any way to get that high a score in the time provided.
If you erase the score, what's to stop them from redoing the same thing?
What's the point of cups and rewards if the cheaters and exploiters have already gotten the goodies? It would be cool to be the only kid on the block with a Doom truck - but clearly they're dirt common already.
The problem, in other words, is that the challenges are amusing on their own - but I'm not going to bother playing smash the little cars more that a couple of times if there is no way to compete fairly.
Dedicated Servers, Modding, ample ressources to customize your games and experience. Not a Hearthstone Quickplay-Button where you can do nothing, change nothing, dont play by rules you actually want - and people will still whine about the quickplay-like mode.
I sometimes feel like a time-traveler, where gaming was much better in that regard. But i guess if you develop communities who only ever care about winning against faceless randoms you get exactly that - but yeah, you have no time. You just want to relax. Its way to time-consuming to write with other likeminded people for 10 to 20 minutes, setup a server and play. Better play in to the hand of cheaters, who only ever thrive in exactly these point-based quick-match environments where communication is non-existent. Where as cheaters, long ago, just got banned on your dedicated server and wherent worth the attention.
Moral is, if you want tournaments, do them with people via forums or discord. It will always be a much superior experience.
it is less an issue of CAN everyone play this update then WHY SHOULD people play this update?
why should legit drivers excited for this new mode bother with the two featured events?
its just not worth the time when there is no reward.
im not even caring about a skin or new car... if i cant even compete THE PURPOSE of the word tournament...
why then what is the point? that is what players ask them selves...
"...make sure everyone can play..." what about those who can play and dont want to?
They can't try again if they are banned from the game. ;)
