In this game online in M/P lobbies if there were horns most players would have to mute the sound, because idiots would blow their horns constantly. I would much rather have a rear view mirror so I could see who hit me in the first corner.
2- There are plenty of active servers with players in this game. I have had zero problems finding lobbies that had 16-24 players in them.
3- The devs worked tirelessly to get this game to full release. It isn't perfect, but the small issues it does have aren't a deal breaker. They deserved a break . They will be back and they will fix the things that are broken.
4- This game is a bargain compared to most games , and NO other racing game is like this one. This game is totally unique. Wreckfest is well worth the price of admission.
There isn't a single Racing game in Steamcharts Top 100. Highest racing games
130. Assetto Corsa
165. F1 2017
223. Project CARS 2
229. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
310. The Crew 2
353. Wreckfest
So, Wreckfest is 6th most popular racing game in Steam. Keep in mind others have been in many big sales, 50% even 70-80% sales. All others except Crew 2 and Wreckfest.
Wreckfest is considered overpriced by many, and those people are going to hop in on first sale.
Crew 2 has lost players far quicker than Wreckfest. Crew 2 had peak of 6,498 due to their big marketing campaign. Wreckfest only 2,986. Currently both have about 900 peaks on weekdays.

Also, once Bugbear comes from vacation and releases first new patch, people with technical issues will come back. There is at least 1 new car coming (possibly way more content, they haven't clarified their plans), people always come back on updates.
Also, the game is indeed unique.
Good luck finding a demolition racing game that can compete with Wreckfest. You can't find it for 10€ or 100€. Wreckfest is one of kind. And there's AAA games with worse graphics.
I hope that Bugbear sticks with the idea and makes something that surpasses this personally.
Taking into account the player info they have seen for the last 4+ years
Nope shows both. Weird.
1- Suggesting people would hold them is viable, but unlikely if you've played any other racing games ever made. +1 on the rear vision mirror, i consisntantly flick back camera and it works fine - I'd be more interested in a Live track map as I (along with all of my friends) struggled greatly not knowing what track ,or the version of the track - personally im fine now but it makes for a learning curb some arent willing to do.
2- There is 1 active server at night for me, sometimes another is half full... I get on during peak U.S times and there's 5-6 servers full. Sure there are a lot of servers, but I'm not seeing the player count i'd want to select a version of the game im keen to play in a competitive environemnt.
3- I understand the effort the devs have put into the game, and this is my favourite game right now. Just hope they can continue there progression leading up to and beyond console release.
4- I justified the $$$ easy, it was worth it to me. In saying that it stopped the game being main stream. Hopefully a discount after console release will bring in lots of new players for online lobbies.
That game is very hardcore. You basically need a wheel to play it. Very realistic, very punishing, very dry... practically no career mode to speak of. No "progression" or whatever. No customization. To most people = boring. And someone new to driving sims, probably can't keep up against the easiest AI. Multiplayer race can last 40 minutes, one mistake and you're done. With just gamepad, IMO you shouldn't even bother, almost everyone playing it has a wheel.
Game like that being top racing game of Steam? (It's 5 years old btw)
Truth is... majority doesn't care about racing, at least not more than few weeks. They want to shoot stuff up, manage resources, whatever. Or game like GTA5 around it, which isn't really racing anymore.
There's only handful of genres that are popular. Racing is not among them.. Just see Steamcharts.
Overall I really enjoy the game, just wish it had a higher player count online. In the OCE region there is 1 server full most nights, with 1 or 2 others with a couple people in them... I guess being a Wreck-fest game with the minimum rulings on trolls might deter new players too.
I think, racing games are much more popular on consoles, see Gran Turismo and Forza.
Of course, being popular also means that it attracts the attention of all kinds of players you likely don't want to have in a race.
I'm gonna see if i can get me some fish heads, before making friends with them. Online. Hate me if you must for that ha.
