Why no HUD minimap?

Seriously, what was the last racing game you played that didn't have one? It would be nice to know coming up if theres a hairpin coming up on tracks i'm unfamiliar with. I realize it's on the loading screen but I can't always remember the exact configuration. Has anyone made a mod for this? Not that it would help in multiplayer

If you add one, please allow disabling it searately without disabling entire HUD. I know the tracks by heart already, it would be just useless clutter

Actually it's a pretty cool feature, because now i'm playing on sight, not by looking on the minimap all the time.

It adds to the chaos. Some turns are brutal and the second and third laps nothing but car carcasses in the corners. I know a lot of tracks have variations that look really similar to another track at same location. Turning the wrong way coming over a hill into barriers adds to the chaos as well. Not having the mini map when I first started playing the game was a source of frustration. But especially online in MP, it really adds to the games fun. Someone will turn the wrong way and heavy contact will be made upon him or others trying to avoid him. This game is all about the wrecks. Its easy to get that tunnel vision of the guy in front of you and trying to run the perfect racing line, only to get smashed into the corner because you forgot to play defense on the guys behind you. Enjoy the chaos.

Probably because very few people with Alzheimer's or dementia play this game.
The tracks are not long and complicated.
