Game Keeps Defaulting to Keyboard

I've had Wreckfest since November and, at the time, my wheel and controller both worked fine with the game. Even after the major update earlier this year both still worked fine. However, now I have a new problem since the game moved out of early access.

Anytime I go to settings to move to the controller or the wheel, the game defaults it back to keyboard. I can't get it to revert to anything but that keyboard.

Thus far, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game, unplugged the controller or wheel while leaving the other plugged, and unbinded all the controls and set my controls manually. When I unbind, I can get the controller or wheel controllers to override the lack of keyboard controls, but the car only will turn left.

Anyone have an idea on a fix?

You have a controller and a wheel plugged in?

If you just use one, say the wheel, does it setup OK in settings and work fine then?

What controller and wheel are you using?

Pretty sure you can control it with any of them no matter whats selected in the menu

When you go to controller settings keyboard is just the first to show, that is all. It is not defaulting to just using it.

I just got the game and having the same issue. I set it to use my Xbox 1 controller but it won't let me do anything. Then I'll hit escape to leave the control screen and it reverts back to keyboard. If I try to set it during a race, ill get the control options of an xbox controller (x,y,a,b,rt,lt-etc.) but neither my keyboard or controller will work.

I have a logitech f310 controler wired, which steam and the game see it as a xbox controller which is fine because it usually works, and does great but, sometimes upon loading up the game on steam the game does not recongnize it and will not respond. And also I will see under controls of game a keyboard and no controller. So wil use mouse exit game exit steam and try again, sometimes I reboot the computer. But after a few atempts then it will respond. I think this started happening after the release. But I also think there are to many cooks in the kitchen with the controller, meaning steam wants to know what you have now, the game needs to know, then theirs windows 10 and we all know how awesome it is. So could be from any of three sources the quirk, IDK, An update yesterday got a logitech wireless F710 controller got it on ebay for 20 bucks or so. Anyways it works great and the issues I had above seem to be gone. It was just plug and play no tweeking at all was done.

Can confirm: Games defaults to keybord every time i start a race. Saitek Cybord Evo

Does it still detect your Saitek, though, with no bindings probably?

My Saitek is listed ingame. Though if i clear all binding, it wont rebind. Strange
