Modders have set up derbies on race tracks to do just that. Its fun to bounce across the terrain.

We’re not going to get the open world of Test Drive: Eve of Destruction, but it would be fun to have a game mode that encouraged exploration as there is loads of fun to be had going offroad.

What do you mean by free roam mode? You can set a custom track and choose 0 cars, and 20 laps.

With lots of guardrails, automatic reset zones and spectators that will reset your car if touch them, has made most current tracks free roam unfriendly. :(

Back in the old days before tracks got "polish" by the Bugbear Devs, could free roam the tracks a lot easier. :)
