I just used a different emulator, please remove this thread.
Look, enough time had passed since I made this thread and I was able to save up some money for the wireless Xbox controller and it works just fine now. I'd heartily recommend doing the same.
However, if you're stuck with some bootleg controller or a PS4 gamepad, just download DS4Windows, make sure that the "Hide controller" option is ticked in emulator and it will work just fine. Some games need to have this option enabled, otherwise the game will go haywire trying to recognize both the PS4 and Xbox controllers at the same time due to the emulation. If you tick that setting, the system won't be able to recognize that it's a PS4 controller and will see it as an Xbox controller exclusively, and it will work just fine.
