HI! How can my boyfriend and I play separate careers?
Title says it all... he saw me playing this and he really wants to play too. We have multiple pc's... I tried installing on his pc, but the steam client synced my save file. Thanks...

I don’t think Wreckfest currently has cloud saves. You should be able to hit the reset career button on one of the computers to wipe progress.

Use steams family sharing feature. He would need his own steam account. This will not allow you to play together online though, but I'm not entirely sure.

i have used both of these options successfully

Now, if i could just figure out how to MOVE my carer file to another computer....THEN i could run my current stable of cars on the computer downstairs (the one with the g29 wheel)

anyways,,hope to cya BOTH out there

hmmm... for starters:

your boyfriend needs to have his own steam account and be signed in to that account, on the other(his) PC.

secondly: he needs to own wreckfest and again, be running it from "his" PC.

From there you should be able to hook up online, either through joining the same online server,
or one of you setting up a private server and the other join.

Either way, he needs to have his own steam account, be signed in to that and own wreckfest.

Thanks, well except Paulie, who seems to be missing the question and is on a personal vendetta against perceived pirates.... My main question was how to make a second career on the same pc, not necessarily install it on one of the others. The pc I play on is in our bedroom with a 70 inch tv, he wants to play in here when Im not home. I wasn't sure about the cloud saves, but sounds like we can just install it on a different pc with my steam account if he wants to play by himself. And Paulie, if I bought a DISK/CD of a game? I absolutely could install it on multiple pc's and different friends/family could play the game. Don't post if you're not going to be helpful. Thx everyone else.

Only way I can see having two different career modes going with just one Wreckfest, is to swap Wreckfest save file folder.

Make 2 copies of this Steam folder: C:\Program Files (x86)Steam\userdata\[YOUR UNIQUE USER ID]\228380\local\wreckfest

Name one copy. \wreckfest-Hollianne
Name second copy \wreckfest-boyfriend

Who ever playing, need swap in their copy and when done, need make a new copy to save your progress, so can swap in the new copy and keep your progress. Can be a pain in the butt do it this way, but it works.

I do it with ARK and have 6 grandnieces and grandnephews and myself to swap back and forth.

Here my thread on backup Wreckfest save files:

If you use Steam's family-sharing feature, Purple's guide won't be necessary. Your manfriend will just need to login to his own Steam account when he wants to play. This link will show you how to set-up sharing between your accounts:

By the way, I think you might have over-reacted to Paulie's response. If you re-read your initial post, it's not clear whether you want to play alone or together. That and because the game has online multiplayer, it's reasonable to assume you wanted to play online together. I had initially assumed that's what you meant too, when I first read your post. Under this assumption, Paulie simply explained what would be necessary to do so. Doesn't seem to me like he was being a jerk or anything like that.

Thank you Purple and Clamtacos. I am wondering if I just set up another user on my PC... he can log into a separate account from my admin account and it will save to a different user folder... I am going to try that today. And you are right, Clam, I suppose I didn't make it clear in my OP... but, we have 2 xbox ones and if we play online together, we have 2 copies of a game... I doubt I will be playing this game online it was just something fun that I can play if I have 30-45 mins and have to put the game down (I have others that is not so easy with =) PS, this game is great for releasing my innate road rage having to constantly commute around people who can't drive... BF saw me play and wanted to check the game out himself and I didn't want him to screw up my career xD His idea of gaming is candy crush... Many games have an option to have a different save file, I was surprised this one did not. And I am a woman, we can overreact... OCCASIONALLY lol. However, Paulie basically told me that if bf wanted to play, he should get his own steam account and buy "HIS" (why in quotations?) own copy of the game. Thats a big DUH and shouldn't be necessary for my needs... I mentioned "HIS" pc because it may have been helpful if that was necessary... I posted this while at work so didn't have much time.... bf was off work and wanted to play and he pouted about it =P I was hoping for an easy solution I could walk him through until I got home... I will post later if what I try works... I searched the forums before posting and was surprised no one else had the same question, so maybe this will help another player who might want to share the game with their kid or room mate... whomever =D

The family-sharing feature does exactly what you're looking for without any hassle. Once you set it up (which takes less than a minute) all he'd have to do is log into a separate Steam account and click play.

Another Windows account on the PC might work, but it's unnecessarily complicated and redundant. It would only work if there are two separate Steam installations exclusive to each Windows user, which isn't exactly straight-forward to configure. The reason is because Wreckfest saves are stored in your steam installation directory's userdata folder, each steam account has its own sub-directory in it. You would have to maintain two Steam installations, two Wreckfest installations, etc, and might have to deal with other complications like with Steam cloud saves.

Ok, ty - as it turned out, I didn't have time to test that out. Hes not really a gamer so I have never tried the family-sharing out, I will try that when I get the time, thank you for the info!

Since you mentioned that you had tried installing on multiple PC's... i assumed that it was a
MP related problem, where you couldn't connect with each other and play under your own
profiles, that was all.

I never said anything about piracy, only the ownership of a steam account where,
your partner could play wreckfest under that(his own) profile.

anyhoo... sry for the misunderstanding.
