CHEATING IS BROKEN
This update has broken cheating and I am very thankful for it. I have played close to 10 hours since the update. Almost 500 hours in total. I have have not once been passed by a C class car with a 124 rating when my car is maxed out at 164. Before the update Mud Diggers especially would pass me like I was standing still or they would crash into a wall and almost instantly be back up to top speed. I will never understand how someone is proud of winning a race by cheating. If you want to cheat, do it in single player.

Was that teleporting due to internet ping or actual cheating ?
I was told this game could not be hacked to cheat.......
Spendy Sep 2, 2019 @ 4:56pm
its certainly possible...

There are no cheats... only infinite variables of computer power, steering controller,
network speed, car configurations, driver skill & technique, learning the best line on each track. With the update, those who are extremely adept at WF have to learn the nuances all over again.

nope, there are cheats, hopefully they broke with this update, not impossible for some1 to make them again

That time isn't wallriding or any other game mechanics- that time is a timer freeze .

Now tell me this game is safe from cheating.....What a hoot.

If ya don't know something, please don't act like you do.
Whether it is misinformation or ignorance, obviously this game, like any other racing game , is being hacked. Saying that it can't be hacked is obviously not the truth.......

time trial times are achieved both in SP and MP. SP means easier hacking. Just ignore ridiculous times and focus on those of the good drivers you've faced online.

My point is this:
Players are stating that this game can't be cheated in.
Obviously, that is bull$hit.
Leaderboard times being what they are, that $hit matters.

Players do use wall riding to get faster times on some tracks. I won't talk about Wreckfest being hacked in other ways.

But online I not seeing signs of players using nitro hacks, like we saw with Flatout 2.

You think a "wallride" can produce results like I posted on the Hilltop Oval ?
00:01.616 ....Using a "wallride" ?
C'mon, Purp....Gimme a break !
Why can't you long time players just admit it ?
This game can be hacked and cheated in just like all the rest of the racing titles.
The proof is posted.
It's time to believe your own eyes.

he didn't say that time was achieved with wall ride, or that there aren't "actual" cheats

At least its only cheating of offline laptimes. There is no 3rd party cheat protection, which is good, cheat all you want offline. Online is very secure by design against cheating, much more so than most racing online multiplayer games.

leaderboards could do with a periodic cleanup though, but its not game breaking imo. Pretty obvious which laptimes aren't legit if you are competing for them.

Scripting game files has become popular in a lot of games.
Exactly how, in a game that is modded so easily and frequently, does that work, this anti-cheat ?
How would "server side" matter if files are scripted ?
And yeah, the leader boards are proof positive the hacks are being used.
Maybe it is only offline, and only in Single player.
Be that as it may, there is still cheating in this game.

I don't disagree there may be ways to hack Wreckfest, do think it possible! Just don't want talk about how it could be done here in a forum. ;)

if bugbear had actually developed a cheat-proof online platform it would be worth much more then the game itself.

People claiming its hack proof are naive, Companies have spent billions trying to lock down their code and never succeeded.

Either way, I personally don't stress it,A good race is a good race.

Because physics parts/files are(or were, networking changed in last patch so cant confirm) controlled by the server. So for example you could have 9000bhp on your screen and it would rev like it had 9000bhp for you.But server would use default engine file and not let you go any faster than is possible.

Its not cheat proof, but very difficult unless playing offline or are the host of the server.

Offline cheating of leaderboards is certainly possible, very easy to do and difficult to stop without measures which aren't consumer friendly
