Was the Big Rig race play tested?
Look i know everyone has been ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the new update but that is not what this is about. My questions is has anyone been able to win the race against the big rigs using keyboard? That stupid 3 wheel car is so twitchy with keyboard its a challenge to get around the oval to unlock the bus. I have spent about 6 hours since the update just trying to unlock the big rig and i have yet to finish the race in the top 5. Either i get wrecked by the overly aggressive rigs or i get bumped into the wall and the front wheel gets stuck in the sticky walls. I was so excited for this update when i saw there was going to be an actual racing type semi but if its impossible to unlock why bother adding it to the game?

Update

Issue has been resolved

Won it on my second try. You just need to be careful, stick to the inside, and capitalize on the rigs fighting each other. Trying to go full speed and taking perfect racing lines in the supervan will just end with a rig taking the inside and rolling you, and that's if you don't go wide/roll on your own.

Haven't won it yet. I like to play having the view from behind the car and the trucks getting close ruin my viewing angle as the view goes inside empty Big Rigs front. Seems impossible but good that someone has beaten it - need to try again :)

It's a challenging event for sure, took me a lot of restarts to finally get it right. Tips I can think of that worked for me -> never flip on the front wheel, keep side-riding the big rigs and try always stay in front of them on the finish line.

I guess you never saw my thread on this which gave tips aswell as asked the same question.

I do not believe it was tbh.

I had to resort to some bizarre settings to pull it off. I consider myself a very good player at racing games and have played loads, I have completed every single event on WF at expert level or not at all - its a personal goal.

Despite that and the fact most would then embelish the truth - I am gonna tell you now I had to drop it to novice and do some really bizarre setup to pull this off.

I will point out though I am a dirty MKB player .. no gamepad or analog throttle for me.

if you drive clean AI, will smash the Robin again a wall or outside. If you're aggressive, you'll spin cause it's unstable as only a Relaiant Robin will be.
If the buses even was hard but passable (with previous patch), here it's simply frustrating over and over.

I'd said anyone who hated the buses is gonna break their pad trying this.

It is utterly brutal and there is no point anyone pretending it is not. There is a big difference between "achievable under very specific conditions" and "equally possible for all"

Novice felt like it barely did anything and while I may well enjoy expert many would choose to relax the challenge, alleviating difficulty via options and assists SHOULD have impact but for the big rig event it doesn't feel like it dose much at all.

The only reason I pulled it off was because I kept the damn thing in 3rd and took corners in a manner to reduce loss of traction from the rear, it was a case of making sure I was already accelerating faster than they were.

If you are not too aggressive though and "lean" on them in the corners by using them as a buffer to take it faster than you would normally it CAN be done I have the rig unlocked to prove it ... but I wont even begin to try and pretend like I was able to do it on Expert as I have everything else, I was questioning myself by how much I had to relax the challenge to get this done.

Although I am new to this, I won it fairly easily after driving from the inside car view. The balance problem was negligible then.

I believe its been nerfed considerably since this post sir. Patch notes.

Beat it two weeks ago with keyboard, expert AI and no assists.

It required specific inputs. Also drifting wastes time with the SuperVan. Try to keep your speed around the corners, cornering techniques are the key to victory.

For me before the update the Big Rigs were undriveable cause it felt like I was driving on ice.

I like use far Chase cam, but with bigrig on your bump, made it hard to see, I went cockpit few and find it was easier to steer the 3 wheeler too.
I love using the big rig, not only is it super rare to see online, but I love wrecking other people's cars.
Bad thing is that the truck is actually quite fragile, and the top speed is just horrible.

I dont believe many racing games are optimized for keyboard, or even tested beyond verifying that it is possible,

I have played (and completed most of) Flatout 1 and 2, Dirt 1,2,3; Dirt Rally (2015), GRID, GRID 2 and Wreckfest with keyboard on the each game's hardest difficulty. Keyboard racing is difficult, but can be learnt by practicing.
