Help For Struggling Keyboard Players
If you're one of the many struggling keyboard players out there, go to the Advanced tab in your Options. There, you will find various sliders that affect turn radius and throttle control. Reset it all to default (There's a button and some text at the bottom that says "Reset to default," you can just click the words). After that, set your "Steering Sensitivity" to 80. LEAVE EVERYTHING ELSE ALONE. These are the advanced settings I am currently running.

When you set up a race, there is a "Difficulty" tab. In there, I have ABS set to Half, Traction Control set to Off, and Stability Control set to Full. You can configure the ABS and Traction Control to your liking, but be aware that Traction Control used to (and might still, I haven't tested) slow players down. Use it with caution.

It is suggested for keyboard players to use a fully upgraded American 1 (A 341). Other cars like the American 5 might be slightly faster, but they tend to spin out much easier than the American 1. I currently use the Locked Differential (which can influence handling) and Race Brakes (they're better. Duh.) You can use any gearbox you like.

The most important thing for any player, but ESPECIALLY for keyboard players, is throttle control. You have to let off the gas and brake early enough that you hit the apex of the corner (i.e. get to the bottom of the corner), then roll through the corner until your car is pointed in the right direction. After that, you can hit the gas. If you start sliding, let off the throttle (don't hit the brakes), reposition your car, and hit the gas again. If you're feeling comfortable, you can pump the gas in the corners to maintain your speed, but you absolutely CANNOT hold it while the car is still cornering.

I hope you keyboard players out there can use these tips to their full advantage, and happy racing! This has been a message brought to you by Showli's Driving School.

Now when do I start getting paid for this...

Good advice from the Wreckfest keyboard Demi-God!

I`ll bump this for the poor keyboard sods. All we want is to race right? However it happens.

With the class A and the upper half of class B, don't drive the American 3 if you are having problems.

It is the twitchiest of all of them. A bigger problem than the oversensitivity is that it overcorrects too fast and too strong when people try to correct or recover.

American 2 (II), American 1, and the regular American 2 are a little easier to steer with the more powerful cars.

If I could find the setting, I might make a mod to cut the steering oversensitivy of the American 3 a little bit.

Bugbear usually has very good design judgement so I'm hoping that they're taking this seriously. This shift to super powered cars is causing a lot of problems and most people don't like it. I also hope that they don't try and fix it by nerfing the tracks and the physics. It was perfect before. I wish they would stick with that.

Bugbear heard that phrase so often during the last 4 years, it lost any meaning to them ;)

In addition to setting Steering Sensitivity to 80, you might aslso want to set Steering Speed Sensitivity to 80 also.

So status report: The American 5 handles better than the American 1 for whatever reason, probably patched into one of the hotfixes and I didn't notice until I wanted to, and driving on dirt/gravel is still practically impossible if you're going under 60 MPH.
