Game keeps freezing my PC
I have been trying for hours to play it, and when it DOES play, I like it. But during cutscenes, randomly, the game will freeze. The sound will keep going, but everything else is frozen, and as soon as I try to ctrl+alt+del or even alt+tab, my PC instantly locks up.
I have tried everything I can think of... turning off Crossfire, turning down the graphics, turning off other programs (like my mouse app)... nothing works 100%.
The longest I have been able to play has been about 30 minutes. It freezes completely randomly. The first time it froze, it did so on one of the loading screens. The second, I made it to the scene where the coffin is floating into Slum 404. The third, fourth, and fifth time, I made it up to the first "big" fight. Now I am just past the first remixed memory, and it seems to really hate that part, since I haven't been able to get it to stop freezing there. I have tried at least 4-5 times, but each time I have to completely restart my PC using the reset button.

So far I like the game, but I haven't been able to really get into it because of the constant freezing. My system should be far more than enough to handle it. I don't get why it is happening, or how to fix it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Oh, and when I turn Supersampling ON, the game lags bad. My system should be able to do supersampling in it's sleep, but for some reason it's not able to.

My specs:

Windows 8 x64
Core i7 Hexa-Core 3.2ghz
32gb 1866mhz ram
Asus Xonar Phoebus sound card
AMD Radeon HD 7990 6gb video card

Running the 13.5 beta drivers. I just downloaded the 13.6, will install those now and see if that helps.

Well.... still not working. Supersampling works now (I dont think it really made a difference though, to be honest), since upgrading to the 13.6 beta drivers. I tried to move the nVidia folder like people have suggested to do if the game crashes for you at startup, but it didn't do anything.
It is extremely frustrating to only be able to play for 10-15 minutes at a time. I am open to almost any (real) suggestions.

Whenever I experience freezing in games, I always lower the resolution and settings and see if it works. Even if it runs 60fps+ on my original settings.

That sucks I'm having the same exact problem. Tried a lot of the stuff you did. I'll let you know if I figure anything out.

So far, I have been able to play for an hour or so with no problems... I am running it in Windowed Mode with Supersampling turned off (everything else is set to high).

I don't know why this helps, but I am not complaining.

Oh, and vSync is off too.

First off, GET RID of the Beta drivers. They're 'Beta' and still have bugs. I had similiar problems once before with them and now i just wait till the finished product get's released and be sure to do a clean install. Your rig look's as though you've got all the horsepower you need to run this game at max settings, although I wouldn't be afraid to use an auto-app like Turbo to OC your CPU just a little if you're not familiar with how to do it manually.

Well... Windowed Mode seems to be the only fix. Played for a couple hours, not one freeze or crash. The borders take a little away from the immersion, but I can live with it ;)

I am very familiar how to do it manually, I am running at 4.55gthz stable on air, with average temps between 38c-47c idle, 55c-62c at load. I would never use software OC'ing, it can not only be harmful, but software OCing is notoriously unstable. A friend of mine who swore by the process quickly changed his mind when his brand new Core 2 Quad basically melted. He left it on just like any other night, but for some reason the program shot the temps up, but didn't actually register that the temps ever changed. I have no idea what kind of motherboard he had, but it couldn't have been that good, since most motherboards nowadays have sensors that turn everything off if the temp gets too high.
And as far as drivers, I had the same problem with the "stable" 13.4 drivers, that is why I went to 13.5, and eventually 13.6. I know they are beta for a reason, but that doesn't make them inherently unstable, it just means that they aren't supported to work flawlessly. More often than not, upgrading to a beta driver will fix an issue with a newer game, and not really have any detrimental effects.

Same boat here.
The freeze whenever he wants. Some sounds still plays, but nothing more, I have a still frame.
I have yet to try in windowed (Fullscreen right now).

Playing under Windows 8 x64
Radeon HD 7970 Ghz (Catalyst Beta 13.6)
Core i5-2500K

Same freezing with hd7950 here, cat 13.4whql, win8 x64, core i5
Mazi7 Jun 5, 2013 @ 2:21am
Same here with fx8350, gtx650 and 8gb ram

I had the exact same problems as you did with the freezing in cutscenes and supersampling lagging really bad. I'm on a 7970 set up and when I installed the 13.6 driver, everything went away. I'm coming form 13.3 though. I skipped the previous ones because of the hdmi dropout in audio. The only problem I'm left with at the moment is the stuttering which I believe is happening when it is loading areas.

Well, now I am CTD whenever I try to play. I get 5 minutes in and *boom*, crash.

I haven't had one single problem. I'm using the 314.22 drivers(2 x EVGA GTX 580/3 GB). 100 fps, no crashes, freeze ups or anything else aside from figuring out the exact sequence to finish off Kid X Mas. lol Jynxx, I was not implying that the software OC was the best way to do it but i noticed in your specs that you have an i7 hex and you had 3.2 listed as your running speed and that's a bit light for a top end CPU like that. For some people, manually overclocking is a bit complex and can cause more problems than it resolves so using something like the Turbo app that comes with a lot of boards is an easy way to ramp it up to 4.0 without causing problems to get rid of most bottleneck problems.

I just reach the final boss and it's freezing every time. I've already restarted the game like 6 times and have no more hope to finish it. NEED FIX
